Meet Caitlyn, our lymphedema therapist, oncology, and pelvic floor specialist. Originally from Kansas, Caitlyn’s journey led her across six states before settling in Wichita in 2022. With a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Bellarmine University, she noticed a gap in care for cancer patients during her studies. Determined to make a difference, she completed Duke University Health System’s Oncologic Residency, becoming a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Caitlyn treats a variety of cancer-related conditions, ensuring no patient fights alone. 🔥PATIENT OF THE MONTH🔥 What have you been able to return back to? “Being able to pick my nose again was a big one. There for about 3 months I couldn’t even touch my face. I was beginning to get concerned. All joking aside, Archery is my passion. I look forward to archery season all year round. Unfortunately, I broke my left elbow and that’s my draw arm. The range of motion required to draw a bow almost requires full range of flexion. My surgeon nor myself didn’t think I would ever be able to shoot again. The day I returned to shooting my bow was the best day of my life. Being able to golf again is nice as well. Who would have thought all I needed was an $80,000 surgery to improve my golf game?! What is the best part about physical therapy? “The music!!!! They have this rocking sound system that’s belts all the classics out of a speaker the size of a quarter. It really keeps everyone motivated. My absolute favorite thing about PT is my physical and mental therapist Courtney Lazzo!!! She started out as someone who I was confident enjoyed the pain she was inflicting on my arm, into someone that has brought me out of the deepest darkest whole imaginable. Healing my arm was the main goal. However, she knew it was more that just physical healing that needed attention. My confidence in rehab was dwindling and it was beginning to take a toll on me mentally. She played a dual role on keeping me physically and mentally on track. She could tell when my energy was off. On hard days she would text me kind words and attach faith driven messages to lift up my spirit. I always looked forward to our talks. Some of which the patients on the table next to us probably didn’t need to hear. It didn’t matter, that was Courtney. You were all that mattered to her in that hour that she spent with you. I will miss our inside jokes, belly laughter, and tears of pain and join that we shared. Thank you Courtney and Physical Therapy by Phoenix for healing my
