We are very proud of the work of our Controls team and it's all because of these guys! They go above and beyond to take care of our customers and we're so grateful to have them in the Five Star Family!

We are incredibly proud of our Sheet Metal shop and all the guys that work so hard there. These coils are 10,000-pound each. The one pictured is 22-gauge. The coil line is used to produce straight joints of duct work. It's truly amazing to watch what these guys can create for our customers.

It's National Tape Measure Day! Let's all say thank you to James Chesterman who patented a spring tape measure in 1829 made from the flat metal of women's hop skirts that were no longer in fashion. After receiving a patent for his invention, Chesterman began to sell the product for $17 in the United States. That's the equivalent to $300 today!
Let's also say thank you to the hardworking men and women who work, build, and create every day in the various industries that we often times don't notice or think about. We're grateful for you and all the hard work you put in!

Happy birthday America! Today, we're extra grateful for this nation of ours and for the sacrifice of those brave enough to sign the Declaration of Independence 248 years ago, as well as every man and woman who has served and sacrificed for our freedom since then. Be safe everyone and enjoy this day!

It was a beautiful morning for our first work day at Morning Star Ministries. We had the opportunity to meet their summer interns and do a few much needed repairs. If you're not familiar with Morning Star Ministries check out their page and website to see the exciting and powerful work they're doing.

80 years ago today, 160,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy by air and sea. 4,441 men died, 2,501 of them American troops. It was the largest air, land, and naval operation in history. Today we we remember the brave men who gave their lives that day.

Thank you to all who came to help us celebrate Randall Brewer's retirement this past week. Congratulations Randall and thank you for all the years of service!

What a turnout for our EOS rollout this morning! Thank you to everyone who joined us as we shared the exciting things happening at Five Star. We are so excited for what the future holds for our employees, our company, and our community.

We had a fantastic week but a highlight was spending a full day with Steve Thomas pouring into our team. Every time we're privileged to host him at Five Star, we're challenged in our thinking and offered tools to help us grow.

A big thank you to Jeff Cardwell for speaking to our company during our first Su***de Prevention meeting. The wellbeing of our employees and their families are of the utmost importance to us, on and off the job. Learning practical skills to spot red flags and how to communicate well to check in with those around us are just a few ways that we can begin to create an emotionally healthy workplace.

It was a pleasure to have Steve Thomas speak with us this past Tuesday. It was a first for many to hear him and he did not disappoint!

This month's newsletter, we remember our friend and co-worker Jake Schneider. Over and over, as friends and family have shared memories and their favorite stories of him, we've heard on repeat about his infectious smile, his creativity and willingness to try to build nearly anything he set his mind to, and his deep love for people. It is a blessing to have known men like Jake and to continue his legacy for creativity and service in our shop and our company.

"This group is by far the best I have had the privilege to be a part of."

It's always a good day when we get to spend time with our Five Star Family and this year's Christmas party was extra special as we spent the evening laughing and crying and remembering this past year. A special thank you to everyone who took the time to come out and also to Kansas Star Casino for taking such excellent care of us. Not one detail was out of place. As always, we are so grateful for this company we are apart of and every single man and woman that makes Five Star Mechanical Inc. what it is. Here's to another great year!
