We have an abundance of books and we need to make room! Join us on May 11 at the Wichita Art Museum and Fill-a-Bag of Books for $10! Now is the time to stock up on gently used books on art, fiction, non-fiction, children’s, mystery, and everything in between.

FREE admission, but bring $$ to buy books! All proceeds benefit WAM’s events and programs.

READiculous Book Sale starts today! Come visit the Wichita Art Museum and meander through miles of aisles filled with lightly loved bibliophile bargains. 📚Our READiculous Book Sale is this weekend! 📚 Not only will there be TONS of used books for sale, on Saturday from 11am to 3pm there will be activities for the whole family during Wichita Art Museum's READiculous Family Art Venture. Performances, storytelling, activities in the galleries, and art making will spark your creativity on this day devoted to books and art. Best part is, it's FREE!

We are thrilled to have author Patrick Bringley at our Wooden Lecture Series on May 1 at Wichita Art Museum. Patrick spent a decade as a guard at the MET Museum and will be sharing stories from his book All The Beauty In The World: The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me.

FWAM had a special tour of Wichita Art Museum’s newest exhibition after our board meeting today. Making American Artists: Stories from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, 1776-1976 is on view until April 21. Check it out!

We had a wonderful time listening to WAM Curator Tera Hedrick talk about their newest exhibit Making American Artists during WAM Nights. The exhibit is a must see!

MINI BOOK SALE: Friends of WAM will hold its next mini book sales on 11/27/20 & 11/28/20, 10:00-3:00 ea day. A variety of book categories available at reasonable prices. Masks required. Held in conjunction with Winter Art Mania.

From Artnet News: Want to avoid catching the coronavirus? Maybe you should have been an artist.

Fine artists, including painters, sculptors, and illustrators, have a remarkably low risk for contacting the disease, according to new data compiled by the New York Times.

Art is the second-safest career, with a physical proximity score of nine and a disease exposure of zero. That ranks it behind only loggers and just ahead of authors and writers, who are at zero on exposure but 14 on proximity.

Graphic designers have comparatively less risk: they score zero for exposure and 34 for how close they typically get to other people.
