Hello ECP Friends and Family. Just a quick reminder to anyone under the age of 18 wanting to get pierced.

We are so excited to have all different age groups wanting to get pierced by our amazing piercers we have in the studio. However, we do have some age requirements for certain piercings.
7-10 years of age: earlobes only
11-13: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd earlobe piercings only
14-15: helix, tragus, conch, daith, rook, nostril, navel, eyebrow, septum piercings
16-17: industrial, lips, tongue piercings
18+: ge***al and surface anchors (micro dermals)

‼️Required Documentation for Minors‼️

State Law requires anyone under the age of 18 to have a consent form filled out and notarized. We have those forms available for print out on our website under Legal Requirements for Piercing a Minor. We also have those forms available in house, as well as in house notary. Our notary is an INDEPENDENT notary, and charges a $5 CASH ONLY fee. (Notary is out on Wednesdays)

We also need to have a birth certificate for the minor getting pierced available during time of appointment. If a birth certificate is not able to be presented, please give our store a call at 316-352-7073 to find out other forms of documentation that could work in place of the birth certificate.

In the case of a guardianship, we do need original birth certificate including guardianship papers.

There are so many kinds of jewelry, but how do you know which is best for your body? On the right side of the image is jewelry that is called externally threaded. Externally threaded jewelry has sharp threading on the bar that can damage your piercing when installing or changing your jewelry and should be avoided. This style is usually made from metal that is not implant grade and often has a poor polish, which can damage new piercings and can even cause damage to healed piercings. On the left side of the image is jewelry that is called internally threaded (or press fit/threadless, depending on the style of jewelry). Internally threaded and press fit/threadless jewelry has a nice, high polished bar that won't damage the piercing upon insertion. Instead of the threading on the bar, the ball or gem will have threading or a pin that is safely inserted into the bar once pierced. This style of jewelry is made with high-quality metal that will keep your piercings healthy for a lifetime.
The choice is yours, but isn't it obvious? Treat your piercings well, and they will stay happy for a lifetime! All piercers who are APP members use high polish, internally threaded, and press fit/threadless jewelry that is free of nicks and burrs. Hey everyone, this is Erik the owner of EC Piercing. I hear a lot of you asking about ages younger than 7, and this is an explanation of how we have come to choose this age requirement for our shop.

First, it has to be the child’s decision to have this done. There is no exception to this. If we ask if they would like their ears pierced and they say “No” we will not do it. This is not to be confused with “I do but I am scared.” We try to work with them to overcome their fears in a supportive yet autonomous way.

Second, they must be able to comprehend what piercing their ears entails. This also includes how to take care of them after they have been pierced.

Third, they must willfully let us pierce them. We will not pierce a child while a parent holds them down. This is for their safety and our safety as well.

When we first started piercing children’s ears 10 years ago, our beginning age was 5. After about 8 months, we felt that the majority of kids did not meet the above requirements and moved the age to 6. After another 10 months, we saw improvements with kids but still the majority were just not as ready as they thought. At that point we moved it up to 7, and that has been our age for the past 8 years.

Our main goal is to give the child a positive piercing experience and something to be proud of.

We appreciate everyone that comes in our door and that has trusted us to pierce them for the past 20 years, please trust us with this. We are here with your best interest at heart. Thank you Wichita, thank you Kansas. There’s no place like home.
