Flourish Wellness Collective, ICT
Collaborative health and wellness community designed to empower and support families in the ICT.
We are excited to announce that we are working to form group therapy sessions for Motherโs! ๐ซถ๐ป
Group therapy offers specific support from others who are in a similar stage or circumstance of life as you may be, along with the guidance and support of a therapist. With this being said, groups do need to be fairly specific in their criteria to assure that the group remains relevant and effective for all participants as a form of therapy.
We know that Motherhood is unexplainably beautiful, while also being accompanied by some really, really hard parts. Within these support groups groups the goal is to build connections, normalize the struggles of motherhood and parenting, collaborate to problem solve, share resources, and celebrate the wins.
These groups will be lead by our intern, Lauren Gilley, and will be $15/session. (If you have the inability to pay but would like to attend, please mention that in your initial email. We want this to be accessible for all.)
If you are interested in either of the groups listed below, please send an email to: [email protected] Please title your email with the group you are interested in, and leave your name and phone number in the email.
We will need at least 3 participants to form each group, so this is the stage of โputting out feelersโ for how many people may be interested in each group. Depending on responses, groups may begin as early as September. Once groups begin, they will meet weekly for approximately 12 weeks.
These initial groups would be as follows:
โ Mothers of Newborns (Any mother with a baby who is 0-12 weeks old)
โ Mothers with Children Under 5 (Any mother who currently has a child 3 months - 4 years of age)
We are excited to be able to offer these groups, and hope to see you there!

As therapists, we believe in the power of continuous learning, both for ourselves and our clients. Thatโs why weโre excited to share our latest readsโbooks that have not only inspired us but are also great resources we recommend to our clients.
Our first recommendation comes from therapist Sara Stimatze, LMSW.
Are you feeling stuck in a rut, or struggling to break free from old habits? The Science of Stuck is a game-changer for understanding why we get stuck in our livesโand how to move forward with confidence and clarity.
Britt Frank, a therapist and trauma specialist, delves into the science behind our mental and emotional blocks, offering practical tools to help us break free. This isn't just a self-help book; it's a roadmap to understanding the brain's role in our struggles and how we can leverage that knowledge to create real, lasting change.
โจ Key Takeaways:
โชUnderstanding the root causes of feeling stuck.
โชPractical strategies for overcoming mental barriers.
โชInsights into how our brains and bodies respond to stress and trauma.
Have you read this one? Or do you have a favorite book that has helped you on your mental health journey? Let us know in the comments! ๐
Starting the week with a gentle reminder: your mental health matters. Take a moment to breathe, set your intentions, and remember that it's okay to prioritize your well-being. Small steps can lead to big changes. You've got this! ๐ช

Embracing our emotions is essential for healing, especially for those who have experienced trauma. As survivors, we often carry a complex array of feelings from our past. Recognizing and acknowledging these emotions helps us understand ourselves better and reclaim power over our narrative.
Trauma can silence our emotions, leaving us feeling disconnected or overwhelmed. By daring to explore and name what we feel, we regain control over our lives. This process requires courage and vulnerability, but it is also incredibly empowering.
When we recognize our emotions, we stop letting them control us. Instead, we learn to navigate them with compassion and understanding. This journey of emotional awareness is challenging and may reveal uncomfortable truths. Yet, through this process, we begin to untangle the knots of our trauma and pave the way for healing.
You are deserving of healing. ๐ซถ

Despite our best efforts to avoid them, we all encounter situations that trigger challenging emotions or provoke unsettling physical reactions. When emotions start to take over, grounding techniques can help you find your balance.
When you practice grounding techniques, you are engaging in mindfulness. By tuning into the sensations in your body and the thoughts in your mind, you take a powerful step towards healing. Becoming more aware of your experiences empowers you to make insightful choices on how to navigate stressful situations and fully embrace moments of happiness, calm, and energy.
5-4-3-2-1, is a simple yet powerful method to bring yourself back to the present moment. We teach this method to many of our clients and we like it because its simple and you can utilize it just about anywhere! No one even has to know that you are working to ground yourself!
Have you ever utilized this grounding technique? What other tools have you utilized to soothe your alarmed limbic system?

Check out our newest blog with loads of book recommendations to improve your s*xual health and relationships! *xtherapy
We know that talking about s*x can be uncomfortable and hard, especially if quite a bit of time has passed and itโs become the elephant in the room.
But keep this information from the Gottman Institute in mind, only 9% of couples who canโt comfortably talk about s*x with one another say that theyโre satisfied.
If youโre curious how to open up the conversation with your partner, try this script (from Gottman Institute):
There is an old saying that some partners want s*x to feel close, but others only want s*x when they already feel close. Does that fit us in any way? Do you think thatโs true? Is it true of us? Is that a problem? If so, how can we make that better?
Remember, youโre not alone if this is a struggle in your relationship. If you feel stuck, please reach out for help.
Lauren Scafe, LMSW + BSN-RN is a s*x therapist at Flourish Wellness Collective that is committed to helping individuals and relationships navigate issues surrounds s*x and intimacy. She is currently accepting new clients. Reach out to [email protected] with questions about getting started!
Iโve noticed that when I ask people what coping skills they use, they are often unaware of how many skills they use intuitively without necessarily calling it a coping skills. Youโre more of a self-healer than you give yourself credit for! Tell us your favorite coping skill below ๐๐ผ.
If arguing never happens in a marriage, then odds are that at least one person in the relationship isnโt expressing their true needs and wants. Healthy communication is key for any successful relationship and conflict is an extremely normal part of every single relationship structure. Couples therapy can be very effective at helping people learn how to communicate effectively and express their needs. *xtherapy

Mental health support is essential for everyone, and we want to highlight the importance of accessible, inclusive services for our LGBTQ+ friends and family. ๐

Just as there are seasons with the weather, there are seasons within romantic relationships. When you've been with someone for a long time it is easy to fall into a rut or to switch to autopilot, especially during seasons of transition like when we become parents. But here is something everyone needs to know- Relationships cannot survive on autopilot.
One of the most vital parts of keeping relationships thriving is communication. Communication is the oxygen of relationships! If you are finding yourself in a place in your relationship where you are struggling to feel connected and communicate effectively, try using this tool by John Gottman as a starting place.
The State of the Union conversation is a brief conversation (typically 5-10 minutes) that romantic partners should have every week. The point of the conversation is for both partners to share genuine feelings and thoughts about the current state of their relationship by answering these three questions in order:
โชWhat is one thing that is going well in this relationship?
โชWhat is one thing that you are struggling with in this relationship?
โชWhat is one thing that your partner has done recently that has made you feel loved, connected, or cared for?
You want to answer these questions honestly and as specifically as possible. The more specific you can be, the more your partner will be able to understand you and care for you.
Do you utilize the state of the union in your relationship? If so, how have you found it helpful?
โจIf you are looking for support in your relationship, know that we are here! Our experienced therapists provide a safe, supportive environment to address your concerns and are dedicated to getting you and your partner on a path to FLOURISH. โจ
Remembering and honoring the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. ๐บ๐ธ
*Please note that many of our providers may be out of the office today. If you are needing to schedule an appointment or get ahold of someone, feel free to email us or call and leave a voicemail and we will get back to you as soon as we are back in the office.*
At Flourish, we believe that accessibility should never be a barrier for you receiving the mental health therapy services that you deserve. ๐ซถ
All of our therapists offer teletherapy services which allows you to meet with your provider from the comfort of your own home or during your lunch break, no matter where you live, as long as you are in the state of Kansas.
โจWhat are some of the benefits of teletherapy?โจ
โชWe are able to provide therapy services to communities throughout the state where there may be a lack of providers or resources.
โชEasily accessible for those with busy schedules or lack of reliable transportation.
โชYou can meet with your therapist during nap time! ๐
โชIf childcare is barrier, you can still have your appointment! We don't mind little ones crashing your session, we promise!
