Perfectly said of why we are running across Wichita.
We are just 2 days away from our event, and I still have about $300+ to raise for New Dawn Co. to get all the way from Goddard to Andover!
We are starting at Cofellow Coffee Parlor in Goddard on Main St., so come grab a coffee and see us off! Or, follow along throughout the dayā¦weāll be sharing live videos and updates as myself and 2 other runners tackle ~38 miles!
It is not lost on us how blessed we are to be able to move our bodies this long and this farā¦running and movement (without pain) is such a gift and we know not everyone can do that.
This organization does so much to help those who are medically challenged to MOVE their bodies in ways they may have thought wouldnāt be possible again.
Help us give the gift of movement to those who need it mostā¦.
šš¼āāļø We will run 1 minute for every $1 donated to the campaign
š£ļø If youāre unable to donate (or even if you do), give us a shout to share whatās happening with others!

JUST MOVE ICT WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME MELISSA AS AN ON SITE PHYSICAL THERAPIST!!
Hi, my name is Melissa Daughty! Iām a pediatric physical therapist with a burning passion for helping children meet their maximum potential with functional mobility from infancy through adolescence. I've been around children my entire life and now have three kids of my own. Iāve also loved sports and being active my entire life. Now for āworkā I get to play with children WHILE helping them get stronger, move, and stay active. I feel incredibly blessed that my two passions have meshed together!
I started Early Movements PT earlier this year to create easier access to physical therapy for babies, children, teenagers and families in the Wichita area. I truly enjoy working with families to help each child reach their developmental milestones, learn new motor skills, and achieve new levels of their functional mobility. Over the years I have LOVED learning about child development - isn't it amazing how our minds and body grow over the years?! With this business I am hoping to reach families that are tired of waiting on waitlists to get access to PT, want to learn more about gross motor development before delays occur, and are looking for more personalized and individualized care.
I have experience working with children of all ages birth-18 with a wide degree of abilities. Examples include developmental delays, torticollis, plagiocephaly, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, DiGeorge syndrome, autism, various genetic conditions, orthopedics, and more!
I can't wait to help more families in the Wichita area by sharing my passion and knowledge for child development and mobility!
Services offered through Early Movements PT include:
Gross Motor Wellness Classes at Just Move ICT (starting November)
Mobile pediatric PT evaluations and sessions at patients homes
PT evaluations and sessions will now have the option to be held at Just Move ICT
Early Movements PT is SUPER excited to be part of the Just Move ICT community! Please donāt hesitate to reach out to learn more about me and my business!

We would love to talk to you about all of our classes that are available to you that can help control the progression of osteoporosis. Message us for more information.

Learn Why Autistic Kids Are Slower to Respond Before Editorializing That They are Lazy, Indifferent, or Defiant. This is autism. You know there's a good reason.
**note** slow processing also follows us into adulthood. This post is to help adults to understand in children.
Many Autistic kids have slower processing speed. Some rules of thumb might be that they can do half the work in twice the time, or that they are six second kids in a three second world.
Understanding what slow processing means in your home can mean a sea change. If your child needs five or six seconds to respond when you ask them to do something, try asking, then waiting.
Make certain that you have their attentionādonāt call them across the roomāthen give one clear and unambiguous instruction: āChris, put your shoes on, please.ā
Hereās the hard part.
Now say nothing and wait. Do not interrupt their processing, because if you do, you shoot yourself in the foot. You cause a reboot, and the processing time will start all over again.
There is much to consider, though, even in this little scenario.
Some examples: does the child actually know how to put on the shoes? Are they anxious about where they are going? Many Autistic children have school anxiety. They may be very slow getting ready during the week, but much faster on weekends and holidays.
Are they so anxious that they cannot remember what they have learned, or cannot comply with your command because rushing them and yelling at them causes anxiety? Have they stopped doin anything at all because of the anxiety that demands cause?
Are they in the middle of something else and need time to transition their focus from that activity to your voice? Is there other noise in the environment making it difficult to hear the sound of your voice?
Learning how to wait to respect the childās processing can make a world of difference. Provide help where needed (Occupational Therapists can help to teach life skills, and visuals checklists can help them remember what to do next), change your approach when it's relevant, and allow more time so that being late is less likely to happen.
Together, these steps can really reduce anxiety in the home and improve the family dynamic. No more feeling guilty because you spent your morning raising your voice to your child as they try to get ready for school.
Everyone does the best they can with what they know. Now that you know more about processing speed, give some of these ideas a try and see if they help.

Yes, there is a competitive race, but the most important part of the event to us is to allow Cancer Survivors to celebrate life and for us to celebrate with them. At the race again this year will be a Survivor Stroll and Celebration for all people who have ever been diagnosed with cancer.
The Stroll will be a short walk for Survivors and their families. It will be followed by Survivors only gathering together to celebrate life. A special song sung by Don and Benita Baker will conclude the event.
We hope to see you there as we celebrate life together!
