It is Grass Awn season. We would like to send a friendly reminder to check your pups feet as they come in from their walks or play time outside. These things can migrate in their feet causing issues. If you notice your pet limping, chewing their feet or any swelling let us know and we would be happy to help ❤️

We are actively working on resolving the issues that caused our system to go offline and are committed to getting everything back up and running as soon as possible.

Many of you may have seen the family of birds living in our trees so we wanted to update and say the babies are finally here and doing well. We were surprised to learn that there is a second nest with bigger babies they also are doing well. We have enjoyed watching the family and I know many of you have got a kick out of watching the dad in the window during your visits.

Lucy is a 9 year old sweet girl. Her mom has fallen on hard times (like many of us) Lucy is needing immediate dental work to remove all of her teeth due to have chronic stomatitis. She has been fighting infection after infection and is getting to where it’s hard for her to eat. Her mom has cut back on things to save money for her procedure such as ending her phone plan, stopping her internet and has been collecting scrape to earn money that way. Due to her mom having some personal medical troubles she is unable to work. We are asking to set up a “Good Sam” fund for this sweet girl and will continue to grow the account for others in times of need to help get pets the care they deserve. If you are willing to donate to her care or even to future pets please call us to make a donation at 316-722-6464.

Grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, wild mushrooms, chocolate, and macadamia nuts are extremely toxic to dogs.

If your pet has ingested any of these you can call the pet poison hotline to start a claim with them which is helpful when you get to the veterinary office to start treatment. They will work alongside our doctors to ensure top of the line care for your animals.

For behavioral questions please reach out. Estella is our lead technician here who is a KPA-CTP. She would love to help sort any issues you may have with your pets.

Listen when your pet is trying to talk to you! Meet their needs. They're relying on you for help.

Cats need a consistent diet of cat food. Most cats do primarily eat cat food, however we know that some of them often times will try to eat dog food when it is available. Why is this important for our feline friends? That is because cats need to have taurine, which is an essential amino acid, in their diets. This amino acid in cats, responsible for a variety of important bodily functions such as vision, heart function, digestion, and fetal development. Some side effects of taurine deficiency are listed below.

*Retinal degeneration
* Irreversible blindness if retinal degeneration is not addressed
* Weakening of the muscles of the heart leading dilated cardiomyopathy
* Death if cardiomyopathy is not addressed
* Digestive issues
* Fetal abnormalities
* Small litter sizes
* Low birth weights
* Delayed growth and development in kittens

This does not mean your feline friend can not have occasional treats we just encourage you to keep them on a diet that is supplemented with enough taurine to meet your cats needs.

We hope you have enjoyed this

Why did the chicken wear shoes???

….Becaws (said in chicken)

Did you know chickens also need veterinary care? We have Dr. Kayd Byers who does see all types of birds including your backyard flock.

05/13/2023

We would like to ask for prayers this up coming week as the family of Dr. Byers will be having a funeral Monday for his mother who sadly passed away last weekend. We apologize for the appointments we have had to reschedule and want to say thank you to our clients for being understanding during this time for our family.

We have struggled trying to type this. We would like to introduce you to this little gal Coco. She is around 12 years old and it is with a heavy heart we must put her up for adoption. Coco lost her dad awhile ago and over the weekend she lost her mom. She was raised by Dr. Byers parents with no other animals or children. That means Coco is used to a laid back quiet house. We are asking that everyone help us find this extremely special to us girl, the perfect place to call home. She must live in a home with no young children as they scare her. She has been around other small dogs, but she does not always like them and is mostly just scared of them. Coco would really like a place to call home. We have tried to keep her in the homes of family members but due to them having other pets and children it is just not fair to Coco or the others to live in that stressful of an environment. We want to be transparent and explain that she is a very shy girl at first who takes a lot of patience to gain her trust. When you have gotten her used to you, she is a completely different dog, she’s playful, funny and extremely affectionate. She has been confused at the sudden changes in her life and is a little reserved due to that but comes around after a couple days. Please share this post with your friends and family to help us find Coco the loving home she deserves. Again we want to thank everyone for understanding and being supportive during this difficult and challenging time for the CAH family.
