We’d like to formally invite you to a public Town Hall Meeting with representatives from our City Council.
As many of you may know, the city has announced their downtown parking initiative plans, along with public forums that left more questions than answers. These public forums have taken place during most peoples working hours, so ours will be held from 6-8pm, Monday the 26th.
As this issue affects downtown residents, small business owners, and the downtown workforce, we have questions, thoughts and concerns, that still haven’t quite been answered fully.
We are thankful that our representatives seem to be taking our concerns seriously, and have agreed to attend this public Q&A.


Have committed to being here for this event, and we’re still waiting to hear back from the mayor and the rest of the council.
This will be a civil and moderated engagement, and your voices WILL be heard.
So, join us to exercise your abilities as citizens of this fine city, and let’s make a difference!

Just Another Dumb Help Wanted Post.

Currently on the market for...

House Sitters (not so fancy name for host) - you sit the house, you're a house sitter, you care about how the establishment looks and you like organizing papers, and keeping track of heads. You also like working for the kitchen. At The Anchor the House Sitter works for the kitchen, you report to the line. You keep us out of the w**ds. You are our safari guide.

Server Assistants (aka runners) - we keep the team small so you gotta be quick and you have to be invested - either way you'll make money. If you're not quick or invested then you will know within a week. If you care and you're aware and you communicate well and play nice with others - then you qualify. Unless you smell bad.

Line Cook - The first week, maybe two is $12/hour for training. If you can test out then start at $15. Review within a few months. We don't want you to take long to qualify for a raise. You have to be worth more than $15 an hour to work here. Must be available Sundays and weekends. Although with current crew - there is understanding that leads to flexibility for a work / life balance. You scratch each other's backs. Must be able to hit beast mode while picking and smelling the flowers. All line cooks are involved in all processes. Team share. Team dare. Butcher shop, popsicles, desserts, cutting fries, making pasta, cutting meat, hand forming patties, fresh mashed potatoes at the start of every shift... get involved in the science of things and then let's party daily. If you like to swallow copious amounts of drugs while mid shift or want to swing with underage kids - then this is not the place for you.

Bartender - enthusiastic, balanced ego, genuinely cares about the guest and their team. Doesn't matter if you know you're better than most. Knows that no matter where we are, we want to advance further and further, so don't get comfortable. You need to have already mastered Jedi Mind tricks and read the future.

S.O.B - We created a new position: SA-B (server assistant - bartender) - this is a bartender that focuses on making server's drinks and running them to the guests along with all the other duties that server assistants have (running food, refilling drinks, fetching all the desired accoutrements...) - except you're the ONLY bartender getting the bar's fraction of the server tip share - that way the other bartender mainly focuses on the guests at the bar.

Buy the ticket and get on the ride! We have the five day a week dream team - we just need the rest of the crew to hurry up and join us so we can together deliver the kinds of products and services that our guests want to spend their hard earned money on. We need to be open seven days a week. Wichita misses their Bloody Mary Bar and Brunch Haystack. They also miss being able the buy Creekstone Farms Beef from a local case. We all support each other. No drama allowed. No negative bs allowed. Do not come to work as the center of your own sitcom. The boss lady has a tendency to w**d those bozos out.

Dish / Support - paid almost as much as the line cooks. If you're not worth paying as much as the line cooks, then do not apply. Must be available Mondays and Sundays.

Our kitchen does not stay open past 11p unless it's rollin' in, then it's until volume. Most all items are from scratch so most everything is hands on and on a tight schedule. We want a few extra teammates that don't get to comfortable with the way things are and want to continuously grow.

The Anchor is a beast. It wants its beast mode back. Come be a part of that x

Please see our update after the original post below!

And it came from the crypt… Much like we have after a tough year of being closed for renovation!

This was found in the ground of our soon to open beer garden just to the east of us. It was about two feet under a layer of asphalt and right next to the building. This lot was just dirt and grass when we first opened 20 years ago and the building turned 100 years old this year.

Take a guess at what it is? How long it’s been there? Got a wild idea of how and why it’s buried in our lot?! We’d love to hear it!

So we figured out what we found four feet underground in our parking lot being converted to a beer garden - turns out - it was just a knuckle sandwich!

We will be holding open interviews from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21 IN PERSON at 3622 N. Oliver. Rail Hoppers is next to Aloft Wichita, just off K-96.
