Get to know our Blue Jacket of the Quarter Winner, HM3 Jeehee Song. When this busy sailor isn't filling prescriptions at the pharmacy, she is staying active with soccer and physical fitness.

The observance of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is an occasion to remember the patriotism of AAPIs who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. military. Help celebrate and get to know the culture of some of our own Red Lancers.

AMEAN Hyundong Song.

I was born in Seoul, South Korea. I grew up in Seoul until I was 15 years old. Then I moved to Wichita, Kansas. My whole family is Korean. Even my dog is Korean. My mom moved to Wichita because to live with my step dad.

My step dad served in the Korean Army. I joined the military because I wanted to have the opportunity to study in college.

I’ve learned that there is so many different cultures but we are all the same people. My culture and heritage taught me to always be polite and respectful to everyone regardless of their background or our differences. My culture taught us to be very kind. Especially to the elderly, sick people, and women.

My family celebrates the Independence Day of Korea. It’s a good opportunity for us to remember where we come from. I’m appreciative we have a month to represent our people.
