Shining the Spolight on our DON for Hospice, Chelsea:

"I Graduated from South High here in Wichita. Shortly after graduating, I obtained my CNA and worked in various settings. After I had my son, he became an inspiration and motivation for me to continue my education. I completed the LPN Program and worked as an LPN having the privilege of working with children as a pediatric home health nurse. After I became a RN, I worked at Wesley Hospital for 2 years where I learned and grew as a nurse. At Wesley, I had the privilege of taking care of many hospice patients. That is where my original interest in hospice came from. After I had my daughter, I decided I wanted to try something different outside of hospital work. I took my first hospice job as an RN Case Manager in 2019 where my love and passion for hospice started. I eventually was given the opportunity to grow into a leadership position as a ADON in 2020.

Hospice quickly blossomed into my passion, a calling that stole my heart. The Work offers an amazing opportunity to engage and learn about patients and their families. Every day, I am granted the privilege of learning about those moments, of understanding their deepest wishes and aspirations when faced with the bittersweet reality of terminal illness. As a hospice nurse, I find a profound meaning in accompanying individuals on one of life’s most sacred journeys: the transition at the end of life

Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and 2 children. We love to be outdoors. During the summer you will often find us at the lake swimming, fishing and enjoying our time."
