After years of talking about punching a footstool, I finally did it! This is a pattern from Cindy Gay and I took her footstool course. I punched most of it but hooked the house with wool strips. So happy with how it turned out!

International Punch Needle Rug Hooking Day - April 10, 2021
It has been such a long time since I have seen most of you! This pandemic has certainly put a damper on our punch needle rug hooking group meetings. I hope you have been able to get some projects done during this “stay-at-home” time.
April 10th is International Punch Needle Rug Hooking Day (IPNRHD). Last year’s IPNRHD was canceled, but this year we are a “virtual” go! Rebecca Martin, Storyteller Wool, has designed the pattern for this year using the theme “Hope”. The first crocuses of spring – what more fitting image of hope!
I reduced the pattern to 6" x 6" to make it faster and used both a #10 regular with rug yarn and a with worsted weight yarn. Here are the approximate amounts of yarn I used:
Area
Border 1 (2 rows) 0.6 0.5
Border 2 0.3 0.4
D petals & stems 0.5 0.6
L petals 0.4 0.3
Center 0.3 0.2
Green 1 0.3 0.3
Green 2 0.3 0.3
Petal lines minimal see Border 2
Background 0.8 0.6
approximate yarn in ounces
Of course, if you use the pattern as drawn (8" x 8") you will use more yarn!
So, join us (virtually) for IPNRHD and punch your crocuses! You can use whatever yarn you have from previous projects! You can use monk’s cloth, linen or rug warp. If you need a piece of monk’s cloth send me an email ([email protected]) and I’ll pop one in the mail to you!
Rebecca has put together a "hot-to" guide that includes step by step instructions as well as the pattern. Go to The Wooly Loon website to download the pattern. http://thewoolyloonmn
Once you have punched your project, post it here The Wooly Loon page for us all to see!
I am so looking forward to being able to see you in person (hopefully) this fall.
Happy Punching!
