Ballet Wichita is Hiring!
Job to be filled:
Production Manager for Ballet in the Park
What does this job entail:
Managing load-in and load out

Ballet Wichita is looking for a Production Manager (paid position) to be on the clock for every show day AND Stage Volunteers who may only be able to commit to helping at a handful of shows.

Wishing Wichita a happy 154 years! 🎂🎉
Wichita, Kansas was founded in 1864 when J.R. Mead opened a trading post on the site of a Wichita Indian village. The name Wichita comes from the Wichita Indians and may mean “scattered lodges” or “painted faces”. The area had been a trading center for nomadic people for 11,000 years.
Wichita’s early development was influenced by the Texas cattle trade along the Chisholm Trail and the construction of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. The city became a major cattle-shipping center in 1872 when the railroad reached Wichita, and was nicknamed “Cowtown”. However, by 1875 farmers’ fences were making it difficult for cattle herds to move, and grain became a more important commodity. Wichita was incorporated as a city on July 21, 1870, and Catherine McCarty, whose son would become “Billy the Kid”, was the only woman to sign the incorporation document.
Wichita has become a city of art and culture! Ballet Wichita is one of the most influential parts of Wichita, encouraging the city’s growth in the fine arts and education of young upcoming dancers!
We join in the celebration of 154 years and more to come!

Our Story
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Ballet Wichita, a non-profit arts organization and one of Wichita’s oldest and largest performance arts organizations, performs for over 20,000 people annually. With a cast of over 100 members, the company has advanced its reputation for creating and presenting exceptional dance and continues to build its touring schedule, performing classics to communities throughout the state.
Through the company’s arts outreach programs, each year Ballet Wichita buses nearly 6,000 elementary-age students to its annual matinée performances of Nutcracker (often a first-time exposure to both dance and live theatre for students). Ballet Wichita engages new audiences by performing its family friendly, free Ballet in the Park series each summer and fall in local parks throughout the region.
In small, impromptu and intimate appearances throughout the year, the company collaborates with schools and local arts and non-profit organizations to promote the art of ballet and to support the thriving Arts scene in Wichita. These alliances have expanded the company’s educational and outreach programs that have received commendation and support from both the Kansas Health Foundation and The National Endowment for the Arts, and helped earn us the 2015 Arts Organization of the Year Award from the City and Wichita.
Ballet Wichita is committed to providing exceptional opportunities in dance for dancers of all ages and skill levels, including the chance to train with professional guest artists in residencies and master classes. Students attending our workshops and dancing in our productions represent nearly all the studios and numerous universities and colleges from across South Central Kansas; we are grateful for the enduring relationship we have with the talented teachers, schools, and countless arts and cultural organizations in our community.
