KanCare expanding coverage to include doula services starting July 1 Kansas Medicaid will expand to include doulas and KanCare will recognize them as non-physician providers starting July 1 with an aim of helping to improve maternal outcomes.

✨Sweet baby Cyrus came in true second-baby style: with half the labor & pushing his momma experienced the first time. I met this momma at the birth center at 8:15pm & checked her…she was at 7cm. One hour later after an intense transition (lots of puking, iykyk) baby came swiftly into our hands in the water. Cyrus has the cutest big brother, who is going to show him the ropes of life & share the connection, not only of blood, but of also being welcomed in the same room with the same immense love to guide them. Just incredibly happy for this special repeat Born family 🥺 ✨

“A support group for postpartum women led by a licensed therapist is starting soon! Come and join if you are 0-12 months postpartum and would benefit from meeting other women like you who might be struggling to find their way or know who they are since having a baby. If you’ve delivered with Born, you have first access to sign up now. All other women can sign up starting August 7th. Group will meet at Born Midwifery Center for Birth on Thursdays from 12:30-2p starting August 17 and going through September 21 (no group 8/31).

Cost is $150/person.

Starting September 2023 Nitrous Oxide will be available at the birth center as a pain relief option for an additional (very affordable) fee 🙌🏻

▪️the first recorded use of nitrous oxide as pain management during child birth was in Finland in 1881

▪️nitrous oxide is a low-risk pain management option for out-of-hospital birth & does not leave long lasting effects for mom & baby. It is out if your system in less than 5 min!

▪️with nitrous, you get to stay mobile & are not confined to one position: nitrous moves around with you!

▪️it’s safely administered & controlled by the birthing person…usually with long, deep inhales through a mask that last 30-60 seconds

▪️it does not interfere with the natural release of labor stimulate hormones like oxytocin

▪️for those whose goal is to birth without an epidural, nitrous can be an incredible tool to reach that goal.
