Situational Awareness is one of the four pillars of safety that we teach at BMG. Being situationally aware helps one to identify threats. Identifying the threat determines whether you have time to escape or if you need to defend yourself. It's when you are unable to identify the threat that trouble ensues. 10 Dec 1991 - I stepped off the bus at Cape May, New Jersey, for the first day of US Coast Guard Boot Camp. 22.5 years later (01 June 2014), I completed my journey and loved every minute of it.

Have a safe and secure happy Fourth of July from all of us here BMG SAFE. But please remember, don’t be this guy!!!

Great way to start the week!!

What do you notice about these two photos?
The first is from a distance, the second is upon closer inspection.
This looks like an ordinary everyday trail that people walk, jog, or bike on.
But how many people take the time to actually see what is going on around them?
Who would have noticed that photo two is of a temporary camp that was set up not 15 feet off the trail?
Was it placed there because it is a nice shady place to rest and look at the water or due to the cover that it provided them, was it put there for other reasons?
What is important about these two photos, is your ability to recognize that the temporary camp is there.
This is step one towards situational awareness.
Being aware of your surroundings will help to keep you safe when the unexpected happens.

We teach you how to respond to situations that are unfamiliar and threatening.
We do not teach you how to fight.
We teach you how to defend and escape.

Teach classes as if every student has the same ability, skill level, and life experiences.
Expect all students to learn at the same pace and in the same way.

Experienced in training students with special needs and physical limitations.
Experienced in training students of all ages from toddlers to Silver Seniors.
Experienced in training students with PTSD.
Our purpose in life is to teach with patience and grace because we are compassionate about helping others learn how to BE SAFE.

When are the next Foundations Classes?
Foundation Tier III, 3 hour class, Saturday, May 13th, 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Foundations Tier III, 6 week expanded class begins Wednesday, May 17th, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM.
