OPC Buffalo
Our goal is to keep the athlete in all of us healthy, injury free, and performing at their optimal level.
Dr. Graig Shapiro is a graduate of New York Chiropractic College which he attended after graduating from the University at Buffalo with a Bachelors in Exercise Science as well as a Masters Degree in Nutrition Sciences.
An absolutely amazing couple of days for our docs learning from Martina Jezkova and Richard Ulm. It always lights a fire in us to be able to learn new rehab exercises and protocols that can be immediately applied to our patient base! A big thank you to of and .crc for hosting this class and continuing to not only bring world class practitioners here to learn from, but also providing an environment full of stellar docs and social opportunities to connect and learn from each other.
‼️BIG NEWS‼️Many of you may have noticed a new face hanging out around the office recently. For those of you who haven’t yet met him, please join us in officially welcoming Dr. Gaige Hoot to the OPC Buffalo team. Our newest doc brings a ton of experience in the strength and conditioning world to his practice as a chiropractor and fits in perfectly providing the type of care you have come to know and expect from us at OPC Buffalo. The athletes competing at for the Level Up Games really brought it today, and kept us working hard to keep them tuned up throughout the day! We love having the opportunity to help out at events like this and can’t thank the team at Burn enough for having us be part of event!
It is with heavy hearts that we receive the news of the fire fighter who gave the ultimate sacrifice yesterday. We are grateful to have worked with so many first responders throughout the years that this hits a little harder in our hearts. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, as well as his brothers and sisters in the line of duty.
Dr. Frankie Donovan spent some time today with a patient who requested cupping therapy along with soft tissue muscle work and adjustments!
✨ Cupping therapy ✨
❗️Improves circulation
❗️Promotes healing
❗️Alleviates soreness
❗️Helps decrease muscle stiffness
Did you know that we offer this specific therapy in our office? Feel free to call the office and ask for a cupping therapy appointment, we’d be glad to help!
Shout out to for having us out last night to work with their trainers on sharpening their eyes at spotting potential injuries before they happen in clients! We love when gyms care so much about their clients that they seek education to train clients in a safer way! The presentation was so much fun that we forgot to take pictures and only got a picture of their beautiful facility!
While we love working with the public and sharing info on injury prevention and movement, we realize how much further our reach can be when we have trainers learning this important skill. Our goal never changes, we want to help everyone move in a better way to avoid injuries and maintain a happy fitness lifestyle.
Another new face you’ll be seeing at our reception. A warm welcome to Julia to the OPC Buffalo team!!
One of the new faces you’ll be seeing at our reception when you walk in. Welcome Payton to the OPC Buffalo team!
This event crushed it again this year, a ton of participants supporting the cause and keeping our docs busy! We love being able to get out in the public and show people another side of what chiropractic can be. Shout out to for hosting the Cote Memorial Workout again this year and for organizing something that not only serves as a beautiful reminder of a passed service member but a wonderful fundraiser in his name (and of course inviting us to join in the fun).
⁉️Did you know⁉️
❗️In just the last 6 months our treatment team has, as a group, completed 6 courses focused on treatment and improving patient outcomes with new rehab techniques and audit systems to better measure outcomes for quicker resolution of injuries!
❗️We are committed to growing in our own abilities year after year so we can provide the highest quality and most complete treatment experience in Western New York and beyond!
❗️This is why you may notice that your treatment will continue to evolve with new approaches in our office as time goes by. There is nothing more exciting as practitioners than learning new things at a course that can be immediately applied to patient care improvements.
❗️For our amazing patients, we thank you for continuing to work with us year after year as we strive to be better for you. For those who may be looking for a new approach to their chiropractic care, we would love to show you how much more a chiropractor can do to keep you feeling good and out of our treatment rooms!
Our docs will be back for another year at the Cote memorial workout at this Saturday participating and providing treatment to the participants. If you are looking for a great workout for a great cause please consider signing up!
This workout and event is to honor local hero, Jonathon Cote, who was captured in Iraq in November 2006, held hostage for 17 months and killed. This workout is not only to honor him but also challenge ourselves to do something hard. A lot of servicemen and women were not given a choice but to do hard things.
Money raised goes to the Cote Scholarship Fund and

Shoulder Trouble?!?
➡️➡️Swipe right to see improvement!!!!
This bodybuilding athlete was having discomfort with her left shoulder and in initial examination showed no drastic differences, but upon loading showed this instability of the left shoulder in the first picture.
After working through a series of different exercises in office we were able to land on the one she is shown performing in the second photo in which she was able to activate the correct pattern helping the shoulder find a good position of stability and was sent home with this exercise as well as others to reinforce it.
While this problem may present in many seemingly minor ways
❗️overly tight neck on the side of the issue
❗️Irritation in the front or back of the shoulder but only with certain movements
❗️A feeling of instability of that shoulder
❗️Discomfort along the border of the shoulder blade (between it and the spine)
❗️and others
It can also be the first step toward a rotator cuff tear, labrum tear, chronic muscle strains of the neck, increased risk of cervical disc herniation (the reason of that will be discussed in a later post), and more. It is important to get ahead of these types of warning signs before they become a real problem.
If you are worried you may be dealing with an issue like this we would love to help you with it. Book an appointment today at www.opcbuffalo.com
Both Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Donovan had the pleasure of teaching a bracing clinic this weekend to this great group at Harborside clinic. In the clinic we discussed all things important about the core and bracing including
-What a brace actually is
-How to better find your brace
-How to use it in strength training, high volume work, and gymnastics movements
-Ways to continue to improve it on your own
It is always a pleasure to help athletes avoid injuries as well as improve in overall performance. Thank you to for being a great host as always
Soft tissue matters also!!
-
There is a lot more to a joint then just the bones.
-
Our doctors are in the room with the patient the entire visit performing various forms of soft tissue work as well as applying exercises to get our patients better quicker and in less visits
-
A lot of chiropractors spend only a few minutes in the room with the patient and If the visit is longer it’s filled with passive care like electric stim, or ice/heat.
-
If you are only getting the bare minimum in your care maybe it’s time you tried something different.

What is Webster Technique? This technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that improves muscular imbalances, and helps optimize the mothers pelvic function during pregnancy and birth.
Dr. Frankie Donovan spent the weekend in Rochester attending this seminar in order to gain more knowledge to treat pregnant patients! At OPC Buffalo it is our goal to always seek out new opportunities to learn and grow as medical professionals so we can be the best for you.
Dr. Shapiro spent the morning at teaching a seminar on Bracing and its applications in the gym, not only for injury prevention, but improved performance as well. Running courses like this is a continued part of our effort to help the local fitness community stop injuries before they happen.
Thanks to for having us and thank you to all the attendees.

Big shout out to for making this new office sign happen just how we had imagined! Couldn’t be happier with his work and how fast this went from an idea to complete. Can’t recommend this company enough if you are looking for metal fabrication and as an extra benefit keep your support to a local business!
That’s a wrap on another weekend treating athletes at the . Dr. Shapiro has been part of this top notch treatment team since 2014 where he has had the opportunity to meet some amazing docs, athletes, and coaches from around the country. Shout out to .crc for doing the leg work on this each year.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ATTENTION 2022 CROSSFIT OPEN PARTICIPANTS ⚠️⚠️⚠️
We will be offering a few tips across the workouts to help you prevent injury during your performances.
This year we get to throwback to last year’s first event. The point remains the same even if the surrounding workout has changed!
Kicking off Week 1 with a bang, the “wall walk” has A LOT of moving parts. You will inevitably see everyone talking about the same thing - shoulders, shoulders, SHOULDERS. While the shoulders are obviously a very important parts of the movement, we think it would be beneficial for you to shift your focus a little further down to what’s happening at your midline.
🚫🚫🚫
Letting your midline go will lead to some increase compression of your lumbar spine through over extension. Couple that with the shifting and shimmying as you walk the hands toward the wall and the obvious fatigue factor the deeper you are in the workout and you have a recipe for disaster.
✅✅✅
Take the extra second, make sure your brace is locked in so that you’re in a strong neutral position and your low back will thank you.
Your shoulders have enough work to do - letting your body flop around like a wet noodle won’t be doing them any favors.
👊🏻 Dr. Shane

In 2014 I got to meet Dr. Ulm for the first time and took my first DNS course all in the span of a few months. Fast forward more than 7 years, including completing my DNS certification in 2019, and this coursework has become the largest influence on the style of care I practice in the office on my patients. Also along this time, Dr. Ulm has become both a friend and a mentor. My excitement in taking this course and honing my skills further was only surpassed by being able to bring Dr. Stadtmueller with me knowing the skills he is bringing back to the office immediately that can help all of the patients at OPC Buffalo.

Proud to support this local team of crossfitters competing at wodapalooza this weekend!
Wishing you and yours a wonderful and healthy holiday. We are so thankful to have the opportunity to serve our community and each and every patient that walks through our door.
Join us in wishing the best to our most recent intern, Sam, who finished her time with us. Best of luck to the new Doc as she starts her career. We have been terrible about posting in the past with our previous interns (I see you and along with others in years past). We are so happy to be a stop along your path in learning how to be the best you can be in the profession.
Great morning supporting a great cause! Dr. Shapiro got to both perform the workout and provide care for the other participants in the Côté memorial workout put on by One / Gym Buffalo. Nothing like a morning of fitness that supports a great benefit like this one.

Our Story
At OPC Buffalo Chiropractic and Rehabilitation we believe in providing high quality, individualized, evidence based care to the Greater Buffalo Region. Our goal is to get you out of pain quickly and to use exercise and rehabilitation to make sure that when you leave our office you won't be back. If you, or someone you know has said the phrase "I hurt my back once a year and go to my chiropractor and he fixes it," we want to tell you that you are not being fixed. Episodic pain is not fixed unless you stop additional episodes from occurring. This goes for other types of injuries as well. At OPC Buffalo we want to show Western New York that there is a better option to rehabilitating injuries.
