I say this to my clients all the time.

How do you expect to show up for everyone else if you don't take care of yourself?

You need sleep.

You need to be healthier.

You need to take care of you first.

Make sure you know who you're asking and getting advice from.

Dieticians can help on a medical level, such as:
*Diabetes
*Autoimmune
*Fertility
*Menopause
*Specific food allergies
*Weight loss surgeries
*Severe Obesity

When walking into these weight loss clinics or challenges, ask if there is a registered dietician on staff.

See the red flags:
*Only allowed to eat their supplements and food
*No Exercise while working with them
* Under 1200 calorie diets
* Must check in and show results as part of the package.
* How are they measuring progress?

Remember there is no quick fix! Quick results might happen with a change in your normal routine.

BUT how do you retain those results and turn it into a lifestyle?

Weight should not be your goal.

Many people are shocked by my weight when I tell them. I weigh between 157-164 on any given day......

Yes, I fluctuate that much. I struggle with water intake like most of you. So, on days that I may eat something salty and then not consume enough water, I weigh 164.

On weeks where I miss the mark on my protein, my arms and legs tend to look less toned. If I focus on the good carbs ( starchy, fruit and vegetables) and my 100 grams of protein each day, things look tight and right.

Weight will fluctuate and should not be the source of showing progress.

* How you feel
* Energy Levels
* Clothing fits differently
* Medication is no longer needed
* Skin is looking younger
* Sleeping better

The picture above depicts same weight, but their bodies have taken on a different shape.

Stop comparing yourself to the person next to you at the gym or at work.

Dive head first into your own journey, not someone's else's.

Strong is the new skinny!

Does the warmer weather have you thinking healthier?

Does the warmer months ahead have you thinking of a summer body?

There shouldn't be a summer body. It should just be a healthy body.

Health and Fitness should not have a bulk phase and a cut phase. (Unless you are an athlete building muscle or a body builder getting ready for a show)

Staying leaner and building muscle should be an everyday lifestyle.

Try to eat as clean as you can every day. Drink 80-100oz of water a day to flush out days when you may eat more salts or sugars.

Healthyliving is a lifestyle.

You shouldn't have to worry about eating and drinking at a summer BBQ, a wedding, a party, or a work event.

If you eat as healthy as you can daily and weekly,when these events come up, you just go and enjoy yourself.

Do you spring clean?

My fridge looks like this 24/7 95% of the time.

How do you expect to choose to eat healthier if you have your old habits in the fridge and cupboards?

We as a society almost immediately cancel or dont do things if we find small obstacles. EASIER TO GIVE UP THEN TO GET UP. We don't ever just do. We always give into the excuse of not doing it.

Oh, it's snowing. I can't workout.

Kids are sick, can't workout.

Forgot my sneakers, but I can't workout.

No sports bra, can't workout.

Busy weekend , can't food prep.

Forgot to buy this ingredient, order a pizza.

Change your mindset!

Do a zoom workout.
Kids nap, do a small workout.
Do upper body instead of legs.
Don't jump, wear the bra you have on.
Prepare of different meal.

Change your habits. Change your mind.

Change your Body and Health.

Now that football is out of the way here in Buffalo, it's time to refocus on those solutions to your 2024 resolution.

Set 3 goals:
1 month
3 months x 3
And end of year

Set realistic goals, and don't set up for failure out of the gate.

Maybe if you're not a gym person, you set your goal to find the inside of a gym 8 x this month.

If you dine out several times a week, you set your goal to make 5 dinners a week for the month.

Do you drink every day? Set a goal to drink 1 weekday and 1 weekend day.

Also, except that failure is ok and expected. If you had a trainer and left to try it out on your own and have not done great, go back to your trainer.

Did you stop going to your favorite class because the instructor left or time changed. Get a new class.

Did food prepping end once Halloween kicked into gear and then Thanksgiving and then , well you know. Get back to planning and preparing.

Failure is ok. Just start back up.

Be better than yesterday.

Wondering why you are hungry? Try eating quality foods! You can eat everything on the right and feel full for hours, get nutrition and energy from these items. The left will give you a sugar high, a quick caffeine boost, crash and hunger and hour later. But what's not posted is the sugar and fat content of the left picture. It's bad fats and sugars that are giving you big bloated bellies. You can do 7 days of cardio,but till you stop eating empty calories you won't lose your belly.

Over the last 15 years I have had clients come in and out of my schedule 3 or 4 times.

They start, go for 8-12 months, then try to tackle it on their own, and then show back up again. Rinse and Repeat!

Many clients have tried to go see if the grass is greener on the other side with a different trainer or try a quick fix or fad.

If there was a quick fix, I would be doing it with you, BUT there isn't.

It takes work, period.

You have to stay the course.
You have to embrace it as a lifestyle, forever.

You have to admit to getting older and things being harder and different than 10 years ago.

You have to admit that you are not doing everything you should be doing to be successful. You are only lying to yourself.

My job is to hold you accountable and guide you to being better.

I have immediate openings for new clients at 10am and 11:15am. A few limited times in afternoon.

If you were a client or have seen my posts for years and keep saying "maybe I should call Kym" Have a friend who has trained with me for years or I trained your kids.

It's not the Holiday dinners you need to worry about it's the weeks from Halloween to Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving to Christmas that you need to worry about! Eat clean during those weeks and eat whatever you want on the actual holiday. Plan dinners! Don't eat the cookies you make. Just because there is food in the break room doesn't mean eat it. Throw out the Halloween candy! Get into the gym 3 times a week. Eat before doing any shopping, and bring water with you!

Remember there is good and bad moments, Remember to look for the good to turn it around.
