Together we can make a difference!
2 MORE DAYS UNTIL OUR CEREAL DRIVE!!! STOP BY YOUR GROCERY STORE BEFORE YOU HIT THE POLLS!
When: Aug 13, 2024, 7 AM to 7 PM
Where: Williston Armory, Williston Road, Williston, VT

The mission of the Williston Community Food Shelf (WCFS) is to is to provide high quality food and connections to essential support services to those in need in our community. Times are tough right now, leaving many of our neighbors, friends, coworkers, and loved ones struggling to put food on the table. Many members of our community - including children, seniors, working adults, and others – rely on the WCFS for help.
That's why we're holding a CEREAL DRIVE! On August 13th, we'll have collection boxes conveniently placed at the Williston Armory from 7am to 7pm during Primary voting, making it easy to do your civic duty and help a neighbor in one stop.
Wondering why we picked cereal? Well, there are a few reasons: its easy to transport, shelf-stable, enjoyed by adults and kids alike, easy to prepare, and available in many varieties, including those appropriate for allergies or special diets.
One box of cereal can make a difference. Maybe it's breakfast for a student who needs some brain food before hitting the books, a quick and easy lunch between jobs, or a safe snack for a toddler new to solid foods. Whomever the recipient, you can feel good knowing that your donation helped.
We hope to see you on August 13th!

JUNIOR LEAGUE AND WILLISTON FOOD SHELF TEAM UP TO HOST A WEEKLONG FUNDRAISER INCLUDING THREE COMMUNITY EVENTS AND OVER $5,000 IN SILENT AUCTION ITEMS
The Little Black Flannel Initiative harnesses the power of social media to illustrate the restrictions poverty places on choices, opportunities, and access to resources. Advocates wear one black flannel for one week to spark conversations and awareness about poverty and related issues. Throughout the week, JLCV will host events open to the community and an online auction. Total funds raised will be split 50/50 with the Williston Food Shelf.
According to Hunger Free Vermont, “2 in 5 Vermonters are experiencing hunger. Before the pandemic, this was 1 in 10… and Women are 7.3x more likely to face hunger.”
Ginger Morton, the President of the Williston Food Shelf, was one of the founding members of the Junior League of Champlain Valley. The Williston Food Shelf is an all-volunteer community non-profit and we’ve been serving our neighbors since 2008. They support individuals and families who live in Williston, Richmond, and St. George, Vermont. The Williston Community Food Shelf has NO guaranteed funding and relies exclusively on monetary and food donations from the community.
There will be three events throughout the week that are open to all community members
On Tuesday, April 16th from 5-7 pm, the 126 on College Street in Burlington will host a Mixer for community members to get to know the Junior League. There will be a drink special honoring the Junior League. Attendees are encouraged to donate shelf-stable items (such as canned soups and proteins, peanut butter, and personal hygiene products).
On Wednesday, April 17th from 5-7 pm, the Williston Food Shelf will host an open house in Williston. Attendees will have the opportunity to take a tour of the food shelf outside their usual hours. Amanda Rose Vincent will be taking photos. Refreshments have been donated by Matryoskha’s Bakery and Great Harvest Cafe. Burly Axe will have their mobile axe-throwing unit in the parking lot for attendees to try out.
