Chances are good you’ve now heard about the cybersecurity threat currently affecting large segments of our nation’s healthcare system. What you may not know is how this is affecting the pharmacy sector.

Many of our processes for accessing and billing insurance directly depend on these affected companies called “switch vendors”. We pride ourselves on our ability to successfully bill insurance for our compounds — allowing us to provide customized care at an affordable cost for our patients. Because of the events from last week we are experiencing some delays in our prescription fulfillment process, however, rest assured our team is working as quickly as possible to provide the same level of care you have come to expect from MCSP.

Few people can claim that kind of tenure in the workforce, much less at the same place — MCSP is who we are today due in large part to Renee’s continued drive and passion for compounding and our patients.

Many of you know her by name, have experienced the healing results of her work in our compounding lab, and our staff seeks her wisdom that can only come from her many years of experience caring for our patients.

If you’ve gotten a compounded medication within the last two months, chances are good you have noticed some changes.

With the official adoption of revisions to the USP chapters 795, 797, and 800 (that’s pharmacy speak for our compounding standards!), many compounded formulations have seen changes to their bases, dating, and even where you can get them!

1. MCSP can still make many of your compounded medications, even if it contains a “hazardous ingredient” — we’re looking at you, hormones!
2. We are utilizing all our resources to formulate the very best product for you while also living within our new compounding standards. Our access to consultants, formulation databases, and our full staff of pharmacists expands your access to compounded medications.
3. These changes take time! Our wonderful compounding staff pictured here is working tirelessly to update formulas, accommodate our new patients (welcome!), and troubleshoot any issues as they arise.
