Top 30 Delaware high school volleyball players: The final ranking Downstate volleyball programs continued to make their presence felt in 2023.

3 weekends of Dickinson volleyball weddings! Congratulations to Francis (Jackie), Nicky (Gabby), Joey, and Elia; and it was an honor to be a part of your special days!

Student Spotlight:

Today, we recognize The John Dickinson School senior Zachary Walton. In addition to serving as one of the student representatives to the Red Clay Board of Education, Walton is the Student Council president, an all-state volleyball player, an Eagle Scout, and recently received the Congressional Gold Medal Stem Award. He is the first Delaware recipient in seven years.

While presenting, Walton highlighted newly implemented accountability systems at John Dickinson, including electronic hall passes, new cell policies, and student commitment to class readiness. Additionally, the school's courtyard was recently renovated by the Beautification Committee.

Spirit Week and Homecoming activities showcased the school pride of students and staff, which led to excellent attendance during the Homecoming game, school dance, and the MYP Costume Dance.

Lastly, Walton discussed the recent Incentive Field Trips to Temple University & Lincoln Financial Field and future events at Wilmington and Delaware State universities, Legislative Hall, and the State Police Museum.

Concord comes to Dickinson with both teams undefeated in Flight B. One will earn an automatic bid to the state tournament!

Apparently National Coaches Day is a thing. 3rd team coach Steven Bartnicki, JV coach Maddie Adams, and varsity coach David Lee are all giving back to their alma mater.

Senior OH Gretchen Wolfe joined senior libero Ami Plymyer in the 500 dig club with a 10-dig effort against A.I. DuPont. She achieved this milestone despite spending a season at DMA. She also hit 200 kills, not bad for an undersized OH who spent nearly a full season as the team's libero. Setter Molly Campion also reached 800 assists. The Lady Rams swept the JV/varsity doubleheader and remained perfect in the conference!

Sophomore Cassidy Oakes recorded a career high 7 kills as the varsity squad took down the Hodgson Silver Eagles in straight sets: 25-8, 25-13, and 25-16!

The JV team won its first match of the season, a 2-1 decision over Hodgson Vo-Tech! This was Coach Maddie's first victory as a head coach.

Tripleheader Thursday, 9/21, as the Hodgson Silver Eagles visit Ram Arena! 3rd team plays at 3:30, JV at 4:30, and varsity at 5:30.

Monday is opening day! Watch the Lady Rams as they host Providence Christian Academy at the newly dubbed (unofficially) Ram Arena. Varsity only 3:45pm. It's a white out game!

What a great night of volleyball at this year's alumni match! So many members of the Ramily came to watch the 5-set classic with the alumni prevailing 3-2. And now welcome the newest members of the alumni ranks to Jack, JP, Daniel, Qwin, Cris, David, and Jacob!

Although our season didn't end like we had worked for, the 2023 Dickinson boys' volleyball squad was well represented for postseason honors. Sr. OH Jack Cottrell, who started out as a lacrosse player, earned 3rd team All-North and senior all-star recognition. Junior Zach Walton, the most passionate and invested player on the team, earned 2nd team All-North and 3rd team All-State. Lastly, senior OH JP Perdomo, who will be continuing his playing and academic career at Neumann University, achieved the tri-fecta: senior all-star, 1st team All-North, and 1st team All-State! Great effort this season by all of the Rams.
