A Day Offshore
A glimpse into a day to the Gulf Stream with the crew of the "R/V Cape Fear," UNCW Coastal Ocean Research Monitoring Program research technicians, and research specialist Dr. D. Wilson Freshwater. Sea turtle releases, buoy exchange and collection of clean seawater for research at CMS to ensure safe and healthy coasts.

#tbt to late September, 2018 📆 Hurricane Florence 🌀 swept (very slowwwly) through our region and caused extensive power outages, flooding, and damage -- and took the lives of 40 North Carolinians. This is what we came back to at CMS once the university reopened. Those first weeks back were humid and a little disheveled, but we count ourselves lucky. Florence will always serve as a reminder that even a Category 1 storm can be devastating.😞
