Recent graduate Walker Isley will make his third U.S. Amateur start in three years and Seahawk transfer James Rico will make his second consecutive appearance next week at the 2024 U.S. Amateur at historic Hazeltine in Chaska, Minnesota on Aug. 12-18.

Welcome to the Beach, sophomore transfer John Logan IV!

John grew up in Wilmington, NC and played his freshman season at the University of North Alabama. John is a proven winner who won his third collegiate start at The Savannah Intercollegiate. John also helped lead the Hoggard HS Vikings to the State Championship twice and was named Player of the Year in his senior season.

Blake is a Wilmington Christian Academy and East Carolina University alum who has been our assistant coach for two years now. The team set the Conference single round scoring record in Round 1 of the 2024 CAA Championship at 16-under par before Coach Taylor was forced to return home to meet with doctors. Gray Mitchum shot his personal low tournament round of 66(-6) in Round 1 with Blake by his side for all 18 holes.

Welcome to the Beach, Jonathon Jones from Denver, NC! Jones won the 57th North Carolina Junior Boys Championship shooting scores of 69-67-68. His 12-under par total was good enough for a two-stroke victory and an exemption into this year’s USGA Junior Amateur being played at Oakland Hills in Bloomfield Hills, MI.

The Lincoln Charter senior won the 2024 NCHSAA 2A West Regional Individual title and was named the Catawba Shores 1A/2A Conference Player of the Year.

Welcome to the Beach, Junior transfer James Rico from Cary, NC. James earned PING All-Region honors after leading his team to the Patriot League conference title and a berth in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional!

Rico ended the season leading the Greyhounds with a 72.69 strokes per round average, earning All-Patriot League First Team honors after finishing in a tie for second at the conference championships. As a sophomore, Rico shot 1.03 relative to par while playing in all 36 rounds this year for Loyola. He had 12 rounds of par or better and posted two top-10 finishes amongst his 12 tournaments.

Walker Isley shot 25-under par (70-63-64-62) to win his second consecutive North Carolina Amateur title in record setting fashion and also earn an exemption into his 3rd consecutive U.S. Amateur! Walker’s 25-under par total and 15-stroke margin of victory were both tournament records!
Isley became the first player in 50 years to win back-to-back North Carolina Amateur Championships. The 2024 U.S. Amateur Championship will be played at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota in August.

Senior Walker Isley has been named to the PING All-East Region team!

The 2024 CAA Player of the Year’s outstanding season included 2 Runner-Up🥈finishes and a 3rd🥉during the Fall. He tallied ten Top-20 finishes and had an adjusted scoring average of 69.9 on the season! Walker finished the season ranked 118th in Division I and 59th in Rankings.

Isley Ties And Sets Program Records At Chapel Hill Regional - UNC Wilmington Athletics Walker Isley's three-under-par 67 in the third round tied a UNCW program record and lifted him into an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional on Wednesday at the UNC Finley Golf Course.

Walker Isley 's 67 in round three of the Chapel Hill regional ties the program regional record ... score of 206 over three rounds is a new program regional record!!

Play has been suspended in the third round on Tuesday ... Play will resume Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m.

Second round is complete ... Isley (69-70=139) is tied for 24th at 1-under ... Through two rounds, his 139 is tied for second lowest by a Seahawk in regional play
