Santa came early this year! A bunch of copies of Red (Taylor’s Version) are arriving this afternoon and will likely be gone by this time tomorrow. HOURS UPDATE! 10 days left until Christmas so we are opening at 10am every day now (even Sunday) until after the holiday! Next week, we will close at 7pm instead of 6pm as well for folks who need some shopping time after their day jobs. Christmas Eve we are open 9am to 3pm for any last minute things. • Let’s Dance + Harvest Moon •

The last year or so has had everyone in severe hustle mode, out of necessity. We decided it was time to bring some creativity back into the mix, and find a way to include local businesses along the way. I’ve been looking forward to collaborating with Damien for a long time but it was super important to me that it was for the right project. We all sat down and came up with the idea to recreate iconic album covers over the years, and to do so with our own spin on them and with using people in the community (makers, business owners, baristas, anyone who is involved locally) at places in the community (shops, parks, beaches, etc).

We chose these two first, because they are the two records containing the songs that the shop was named after (Modern Love by David Bowie and Unknown Legend by Neil Young). Young has always allowed me to embrace the depths of a complex heart while Bowie encourages me to explore my mind in unconventional ways. Young’s music creates a feeling of warmth, romance and understanding while Bowie’s represents a colorful brightness, spontaneity, and sense of self. These two artists defined both creativity and songwriting for me, and both are entirely bold in their own aspect of the word. Recreating their vision has been an absolute honor and I can’t wait to roll out all of the ones we do in the coming months.

A massive, sincere thank you to Damien for the time, effort, and brilliantly vibrant passion put into this project. You would be amazed to know what all goes into it. And thank you to Bella and Haylee, two customers turned friends turned colleagues (and also just amazing women) who have helped Modern become what it has and for delving into this concept wholeheartedly. Stay tuned for what’s next, and let us know if there’s any you’re dying to see us do!
