Poor dental hygiene is directly linked to decrease in brain volume and mental decline

A recently published study adds a compelling reason to maintain your dental hygiene: It might be linked to the health of your brain and mental decline.

The study, which appeared in the online July 5, 2023 issue of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology, investigates the potential connection between brain health and dental health.

Every time I look in the mirror and see my smile I think of Oral Health Center's staff. I was very concerned visiting for the first time but from the moment I walked in I felt my nerves settle. I wish I could remember your receptionist's name. (I am an older woman so bad nerves and memory too!) She instantly made me feel comfortable as she took my info. Then hygienist Kylie took over and explained what she was about to do - very gently. Then Dr. Nina stepped in.

I went to a new dental practice because of a move, and with great trepidation as I have never been a good dental patient. I had had pain and a great fear of losing ancient teeth for some time. At a clinic visit I was told they all had to be pulled and replaced with dentures. But Dr. Nina studied my mouth and gave me specific treatments, reasons and projections. She and Kylie heard my concerns and carefully detailed how I can be helped. I almost look forward to my next visit! My teeth would have been in much better shape if my dental care over these many years had been so comprehensive, constructive, kind and encouraging.
