Dear Friends,

As you may have heard, President Joe Biden has withdrawn his name as a candidate for another term in office. This was not a decision that was entered into lightly, but one that was reached nonetheless. I am deeply thankful to President Biden for a lifetime of service to this country. During his administration, President Biden made historic investments in our communities - from our jobs to our healthcare, our infrastructure, and our futures with student loan reforms, the list goes on. He is a champion of our Democratic principles and the belief that all Americans deserve to live and thrive in every community. Frankly, we all slept better at night knowing he was in charge.

I know there is uncertainty at this moment, but here are two things I know unequivocally:

First, I am confident that our Party will put forward the best possible nominee who shares our values - good schools, union jobs, a strong middle class, taking care of the elderly and less fortunate, and protecting our rights to reproductive care - and we are prepared to support the nominee with the organizing powerhouse that we have built over the past year.

Second, now is the time to come together and defeat Donald Trump. That requires all of us to get into the fight because it is our fight to win or lose. That means you, your friends, and your family must channel those anxious unsettled feelings into action. Volunteer with the Forsyth Dems or wherever you live and let’s win this for all of us!

Go to the state Board of Elections website to quickly check your registration. https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/ to make sure all information is correct and current (name spelling, address, party affiliation) even if there have been no changes since you last voted. And once ballots have been finalized, you'll be able to download your sample ballot.

In light of the recent SCOTUS decision to grant Trump broad immunity, participating in the upcoming elections is more important than ever. Elections have consequences and we have watched Trump's radical judges undo decades of precedent, and now they are shielding him from accountability.
This is incredibly dangerous for the future of American Democracy, and we must make our voices heard at the ballot boxes this November.
