We would like to welcome Ron Schultz, our newest (and yet most veteran) member, back to the LAMBERT A+I team! A proud native of Minnesota but calling the Triad home since his twenties, Ron brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our firm.
Ron's journey with LAMBERT began in 1992 when he planted his professional roots and grew alongside the firm until 2014. Seeking new adventures, he embarked on different pursuits, but as he says, “discovered the grass wasn't greener—it was, in fact, crabgrass.” After nearly a decade of traversing various paths, Ron couldn't be happier to reunite with LAMBERT A+I.
In a bid to solidify his allegiance as a North Carolinian, Ron effortlessly balances his football fealty between his cherished Minnesota Vikings and the Carolina Panthers. According to him, this juggling act pales in comparison to his emotional rollercoaster and heartache of being a die-hard Vikings fan. And while Ron’s driver's license may bear the name Ronald, he reserves this title solely for times of mischief.
Stay tuned for more of Ron's invaluable contributions and adventures as he enters back into the world of LAMBERT A+I. Welcome back, Ron!

Honored to be leading the design for “The Mark” portion of this exciting redevelopment project in Charlotte’s evolving University City Entertainment District. Say hello to the newest member of our team and Project Designer, Matthew Geiger! Growing up in Buffalo, NY, Matt was inspired by the architecture of Louis Sullivan, Eero Saarinen, and Frank Lloyd Wright that dots the Western New York region. Making his way south, Matt received his Master's Degree in Architecture from North Carolina State University. Matt spent 7 years in Atlanta, GA working on large-scale projects that ranged from convention centers to airports. Returning to North Carolina, Matt is excited to work on projects that are design focused as well as working closely with clients to create enriching environments.
Away from the office, Matt is passionate about drawing and painting, trying to improve his golf game (unsuccessfully at this point), spending time on the coast with his family, and yes, you guessed it, cheering on the Buffalo Bills come fall.
Welcome to LAMBERT A+I, Matt!
LAMBERT Architecture + Interiors is deeply saddened to share the passing of our founder, David Lambert. He launched the firm in 1989 and grew it from working solo in his sister-in-law’s basement to a major regional firm serving several Fortune 500 companies. David built LAI on the principles of providing the highest level of professional design services and standing by his word. The firm thrives today by still endorsing those principles.
Images 2,3 – “Project Woodenshoe” – David was an integral part of the team that worked on this code-named secret project to relocate the corporate headquarters of Southern National Bank from Lumberton, NC to Winston-Salem. Image 2 shows the master plan LAI devised for the new headquarters in the One Triad Plaza building downtown. Image 3 is the Board Room in the tower.
Images 4,5 – Starting with Southern National Bank and continuing through its merger with BB&T, LAI designed hundreds of branch banks, regional bank headquarters, corporate offices, and support facilities throughout the Southeast. The roster of financial clients expanded to include Allegacy Federal Credit Union, Piedmont Federal Savings & Loan, and Bank of North Carolina, now Pinnacle Financial, which remains a client to this day.
Images 6,7 – Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. – With new 1980s owners, David led the design of a new generation of “factory stores” as KKDC embarked on franchise expansion. The new store design built on the heritage of the original locations by showcasing the “doughnut theatre” that thrilled generations of children and parents. This design is best known for introducing the now-beloved “HOT DOUGNUTS NOW” neon sign.
Image 8 – Building on its domestic market success, Krispy Kreme began an aggressive international expansion in the early 2000s. LAI assisted with the development of design standards to be applied to its overseas sites ranging from Moscow, Jeddah, Bogota, Dominican Republic, and many more.
Images 9,10 – In the early 1990s as Lowes Companies was expanding into a national brand, it desperately needed office space in its native Wilkes County. Working with Lowe’s executives, David conceived the idea to purchase and renovate a failing retail mall. Working in phases over 5 years, LAI designed the conversion of the entire 440,000 SF facility into new corporate offices and completely transformed the site. 30 years later, the facility is still used by Lowes.
Taking a well-deserved retirement at the end of 2015, David and his lovely wife Kaye were able to enjoy these last years together traveling and welcoming grandchildren to their family. Kaye was always the consummate host at company functions and is most remembered for the way she warmly engaged staff and their families. Our most heartfelt condolences go out to her and their sons, Trey and John. A celebration of David’s life will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 21st at 2 PM.

Shout out to all of our wonderful partners who assisted in creating such a successful project: Magnolia Construction; Dale Parent and Beekman Point Engineering; Bonitz, Inc.; Thomas Kerr and Tarkett; Russ Hansen and Sherwin-Williams; and Kerry Withers and Shaw Contract
Our LAMBERT Architecture + Interiors team recently completed a dynamic and contemporary renovation to the Parks Automotive Group offices located within the Sentinel Commons building in downtown Winston-Salem. The upfit included two office suites that occupy the third and fourth floors of the 1920s portion of the building along with a new rooftop outdoor dining area for the tenant coming to completion in the Spring.
LAMBERT provided a modern branded environment that not only met operational needs for staff but maintained the historical elements of the previous Sentinel/Journal newspaper showcasing its enriching details and memoirs. The signature Parks Companies blue can be found throughout the space peppered into its office carpet, flowing across its accent walls, and accentuating its light fixtures and art pieces. To assist with the amount of sound traveling throughout the suite, LAMBERT added acoustical panels to the walls featuring Parks' signature blue and branded graphics highlighting their "Parks Promise" and mission of the executive board room and throughout signature offices.
We are beyond fortunate to have worked with such an outstanding company and team - Stuart Parks, Adam Parks, Larry Phelps, David Hepner, and Clinton Yanulavich - and are excited to welcome our new neighbors!
Our Interiors team enjoyed a finish update from today! These bright, beautiful colors and warm weather outside have us excited for the spring / summer season ahead.
In a pinch? Double tap for some good luck!! Shenanigans and malarky? Yeah, we got that covered, too ☘️

Can you think of a better way to end your work week than with a groundbreaking ceremony?! Marking an exciting chapter for our client, Pinnacle Financial Partners, LAMBERT A+I and team took part in celebrating the start of new beginnings at Pinnacle’s latest office location in Lynchburg, VA. The brand-new office will not only be more spacious but also house additional features, such as a drive-thru. The grand opening is anticipated to be unveiled by the end of 2023.
Taking part in the special occasion were Stuart McCormick, President of LAMBERT A+I, Micah Martin of LAMBERT A+I, Megan Lucas of Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance, Amy Seipp of Accupoint, and Clif Coleman of Coleman-Adams Construction Inc. Inside Davidson College's student union, dynamic student seminars, programs, and meetings take place in its reformed Career Development Center. Enriching this expansion and design were glass-enclosed suites, video monitors, and moveable walls dividing spaces, as well as incorporating a vibrant color palette the Career Center uses in its branding. Creating personalized and welcoming multi-functioning spaces like these enhances our Higher Ed clients’ daily lifestyles and workplace culture, setting our work and attentiveness apart.
