Upon completing a challenging but rewarding 520 miles, the cycling team was received back at the Sports Outreach Nia Davenport Medical Clinic, they were in for a surprise celebration complete with the community, politicians, the Sports Outreach team, Davenport Support Team, and cultural performers! We are so proud of the impact they made!

Wrapped up our big ride this weekend! Mountains for Medicine was an absolute success. We completed the 167 mile journey with over 10,000 feet of climb in a total ride time of 8:24 minutes. I want to personally thank all the riders and support team for making this happen!!

We now have just $5,000 left of the $25,000 goal to fully purchase the medial equipment for the medical center in Uganda! If you still want to help us the link is below:

A new Triad shopping center anchored by a supermarket is planned in an affluent but 'underserved' neighborhood.
T. Cooper James and Associates of Greensboro has plans to develop Shaw Farms Shopping Center at the southwest intersection of N.C. 150 and Spencer-Dixon Road, near Northern Guilford High School and about a mile east of Summerfield.
Tom James told Triad Business Journal that the 30-acre property would include a yet-to-be-determined supermarket and total as much as 120,000 to 130,000 square feet, including three outparcels.
Rezoning was approved unanimously in September by the Guilford County Board of Commissioners despite a negative recommendation by the Guilford Planning Board.
Following the commissioners' meeting, James purchased the property, much of it a soybean field, for $2.2 million from the Shaw family. He said the project could run as high as $25 million.
James said a date for groundbreaking had not been set, but estimated the project would be completed in "24 to 36" months. He said construction wouldn't begin until after a supermarket anchor was signed.
A family company founded in 1980, James has developed and owned other shopping centers, anchored by Food Lions and Lowes.
James described the neighborhood as the fastest-growing portion of Guilford County, but lacking in grocery choices, though a Lowes is about one mile to the west. He said the company had no early tenant commitments, was flexible with its plans and was talking to several supermarket brands.
He said outparcel tenants could include banks and services such as dry cleaning as well as restaurants.
"It's a tremendously underserved area for retail and grocery," James said. "It's in desperate need for more opportunities."
In February, David Couch, CEO of Blue Ridge Cos., unveiled a plan to develop almost 1,000 acres with assorted housing on his Summerfield Farms property near the center of Summerfield. The initial plan, which included apartments, was refused a zoning change in April by Summerfield Town Council.
James' tentative plan calls for an initial phase including the supermarket and outparcel followed by a second phase with additions to the main retail area with a junior anchor.
"This happened to be the site that made sense," James said.
Evans Engineering and Davenport have been retained. James said a general contractor has not yet been hired.
Though Northern High and Northern Middle School are nearby, James said a traffic study found the site capable of handling the additional traffic and the planned access points -- two each on N.C. 150 and Spencer-Dixon. He said the developer was working with NCDOT and the county on "some improvements" to the roads.
James said the shopping center would have its own well and septic infrastructure.

Just getting settled back in from our 2022 DAVENPORT company cruise! This was a special one because we were celebrating 20 years in business. Everyone had a great time and got to know each other a little better in a non-business setting. Mission accomplished!

I even got a chance to do a little DJ-ing! Something I hadn't done in years!!

Well we are back in the US! After traveling for nearly 36 hours straight we were greeted in the airport by family and co-workers. I am so grateful for all of the support you guys gave us for HOPE Ride '22. Between contributions made on behalf of DAVENPORT and the DAVENPORT match, we will be able to drill five more wells like the one shown in the pic with my son David. This will impact the lives of many and we would not have been able to do it without support from many of you! Until next year.....

What an accomplishment!! WOW! So thankful for their safe travels and health as they tackled such an incredible feat.
