My feelings/emotions can often cloud reality and it can be really hard to filter through & find a rational thought. When I let my emotions take the lead and dictate the reality I’m often always left in a situation where I feel worse, regret my actions or words, or feel more tangled and lost than before.

But when I let God be my compass through the flood of emotions, and pause before I react, I am always meet with a rational thought that wasn’t present before. I am willing to forgive or willing to move on. I’m more settled and/or calm through the process.

I have to remember that my initial feelings regarding a situation should always be meet with God in the forefront, not myself.

This my friend is very challenging at times, but absolutely worth the growth pains.

Creating is a process that teaches me to slow down, try new things, and don’t be afraid of a challenge! Creating these custom sinks is new for me, and a little intimidating, but I’m up for the challenge and I honestly can’t wait to see the finished product!!

My first faux concrete vase & I’m loving it!

Here is what I did!

I spray painted the vase black first.

Then I used premixed vinyl tile grout in slate grey for the faux concrete. I wanted texture so I laid it on thick and just spread it around the vase.

Let that dry and then sand it with an 80 or 120 grit sand paper until you get the smoothness you want.

Then I did a paint wash all over the vase with Dixie Bell in grey. To pain wash all you do is dip your brush in paint and then in water! This gave the faux concrete an even color all around.
I tried painting without the paint wash and the paint was really hard to spread over the grout and looked spotted. The paint wash helps to spread the paint evenly.

That’s it! This was so easy and I love the outcome. This is prefect for that texture faux concrete style. If you want more of a smooth faux concrete look, I recommend using DryDex spackling, and spread it on using a rag.

Now it’s time to do another!

Sooooo….I have decided to pull the plug and disconnect from social media while I go through this process. I went back and fourth with this for awhile, but in this process I knew there were things I needed to disconnect from, and it turns out social media is at the top of my list. It really has just become more of a distraction, and just another thing I’m fighting to manage how much time I spend here. Why do that to myself? Just cut the cord for the time being. I want to spend more of my time engaging being present with family and friends, reading books, educating myself on new topics, but I’ve noticed I spend too much time scrolling when I could be doing the things I truly want to do. Soooo…I am off, and I’ll see ya when I see ya!

Weekends & Blue Jeans

The greek word for rest is ἀναπαύσω (Anapano), which translates to refresh, revitalize, or reinvigorate.

I don’t know about you, but I could use some of that! Jesus knows the toils we face, and he wants to provide us with a place to restore ourselves. If you are feeling like you need some rest, pick up the yoke of Jesus, and let him of offer you a refreshing, restorative and revitalizing drink of water.

A new goal. New outlook. New wants. New desires. New passion. New perspective. New opportunities. New fulfillment in where you find joy, love, peace, understanding, coping, strength, wisdom, courage, comfort.

A NEW CREATION

There are so many books on my “to Read List” this year. So much I want to expand my knowledge on. I want to sink deep into the Bible. I want to read books written by scholars and deep thinkers on sound doctrine. I want to get lost in the pages, and moments of pause to let the words connect and take root.

My hope is that word after word, page after page, Gods beauty, mercy, love, truth, and strength will uncover.

So here’s to a year of sinking in, because there is just something about a good book.

She is a classic!
I wanted to create something that looked original, and brought back to life... I think this nailed it!!
And the green on the inside of the drawers added a little something new 🤎

I can't believe how these countertops turned out! 😃🥰

It was a long process for me, but it doesn't have to be for you! If you want to paint your countertops, I say "Go for it!". If you don't like it, you can always change it.

A little bit of sanding, priming, painting, and getting creative is all it takes. Oh, and stick to it! I almost didn't do the texture and veining because I messed it up the first time, and had to start all over again...but I really wanted a certain look, so I tried again, and love the results! 😍
