Our Richmond branch recently hosted clients and caregivers for a donut party!

We had a great time hanging out and enjoying some treats. A few of our staff members even made house-calls to deliver donuts to clients who couldn’t make it into the office.

Thank you, team, for all you do! 💜

This month is all about being kind to your mind.

We know that mental health is just as important as physical health, so we’re dedicated to supporting our caregivers and clients in their mental health journeys.

One way we do this is by offering our caregivers resources to avoid feelings of stress, burnout and isolation. When our caregivers feel valued and uplifted, they’re in turn able to provide the best possible care for our clients.

Providing indoor activities for your loved one during winter can provide stimulation and comfort. Before creating activities, always consider their interests, preferences, and ability.

In partnership with , I wanted to share a few ways to engage your loved one this season:
1. Read books or short stories that include pictures
2. Watch TV with your loved one
3. Create arts and crafts with your loved one

Always monitor their comfort level and adjust activities accordingly. Be patient, flexible, loving, and encouraging. If your loved one is frustrated, please adjust the activities to their comfort level.

Caregiver Takisha knows what it means to make every day great and each moment meaningful.

As many, like my friends at , know, caregiving can be so isolating, even when you’re surrounded by so many people. What caregivers often want is to be affirmed and acknowledged.
Therefore, tell the caregiver in your life that you “see them, you appreciate them and they are doing an excellent job.” I’m serious! Steal this line and go right now!

Then, take a break with them and get your favorite cup of hot chocolate. Breathe in, breathe out. Everyone is doing the very best they can.

As the holiday season approaches, our loved ones may feel sad and lonely for various reasons. I’m partnering with to share my best tips to help your loved one or client feel joy and avoid loneliness this season.

Supporting them emotionally, leading with love, and providing opportunities to participate in activities will help them feel joy and avoid loneliness. Allowing them to speak to family members, letting them decorate the home and their space, and using music therapy can help them feel joy. As always, lead with love, exercise patience, monitor their mood, and be genuine to bring joy and alleviate loneliness during this season.

Caregivers have a lot of important tasks – from preparing meals, helping with household chores and helping clients with personal hygiene. But our caregivers also understand that one of the most important parts of their job is engaging clients in conversation.

Kind people are our kind of people.

Here are a few ways you can spread joy and care this .

01/11/2023

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – but wait, it’s not Christmas because our favorite time of the year is November!

It’s National Caregiver Month and we love any chance we get to shine the spotlight on and celebrate each and every one of our 50,000+ caregivers.

They are the heart of our company and without them, we couldn’t do the important work we do every day to support underserved populations to help them age-in-place at home – where they want to be.

Here’s a few thoughts from our team members to celebrate our caregivers.

19/10/2023

Most caregivers love talking to clients, but some clients might not feel like they have much to talk about – especially if they can’t get out much – so many of their days are the same.

Our caregivers find that asking them about their past is often a great way to get a good conversation started.
