This Sunday WDC’s production of “Reflections” will open with the ballet “Steadfast Tin Soldier”. This heart warming story of a paper-doll and a toy soldier is a character ballet by George Balanchine based on a 1838 fairytale that has entertained audiences for generations. WDC is excited to share this ballet with our audience members and families.

WAD is so excited to see 14 of our Jr and Senior ballet students take part in the 3 ballets that will be performed this Sunday during Reflections. It is always such a pleasure to see how are students grow through their training and begin taking on full classical and contemporary ballet works.

This Sunday WDC presents Pas de Quatre, a classic ballet that premiered in 1845. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this piece of ballet history come to life on stage.

We are in week 2 of 2024 and so very impressed with our dancers focus and hard work. Many WAD students take multiple days a week so they can explore several styles of dance to become well rounded dancers. Here is one of our Jr Ballet Classes working on technique basics.

Welcome to another “Why WAD Wednesdays” when we highlight one of our WAD families and why they feel WAD was the perfect fit for them.

This week we spoke with a family who first joined WAD in 2016 with their oldest child and in a blink of an eye had two dancers in classes. The WAD staff enjoys having both Maci and Kyla in classes as they come to studio with excitement and positivity each day. This season Maci will be one of our new teaching assistances sharing her love of dance with the younger students.

This week we have a long time WAD family who, for the past few years, has had 3 performers in our June productions when Tonia followed in her kids' footsteps and joined our adult class! Scarlett is going to be a senior this year and we will be soaking in every minute we have with her as she is such a positive and humble dancer. Look for these 3 smiling faces when classes start and on stage!

As we approach the start of our 21st season we wanted to share “Why WAD Wednesdays” highlighting the thoughts of some of our WAD families, both past and present , and why WAD was the perfect fit for them.

First up we have a past parent of one of our Alumni Aaron. Aaron has danced and produced works in the DMV, LA, and other cities across the US. He lights up any stage he is on and his family is still a huge supporter of WAD.

This program is for serious dancers ages 13-18. These older students are expected to work hard and challenge themselves to improve. The emphasis for each class is to learn technique, improve strength and flexibility and build a vocabulary of steps. Our program provides a strong foundation in classical ballet technique and overall dance education with over 8 different experienced instructors from across the country. We offer a variety of styles for well roundedness to include Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, Improv, Leaps & Turns, Pilates and Stretch & Strength.
