Happy #WarriorWednesday! 💚💜 Meet Harper. Harper is a sweet and lively 2 year old girl. We lovingly call her “Mini Godzilla” as she is so active! However, this wasn’t always the case. In June 2023 Harper suddenly awoke with increased swelling in her knee and began to limp. At her worst she would revert back to crawling. We spent weeks taking her to multiple pediatrician and orthopedic appointments with inconclusive findings. Our pediatrician urged us to go to the ER to determine a diagnosis. Harper spent 5 days in the hospital seeing various specialists and was diagnosed with JIA-Oligoarticular type. We were unfamiliar with JIA and felt uncertain and scared about the road ahead. Luckily, we had the help of extremely knowledgeable doctors at Jersey Shore Medical Center and CHOP. Her early diagnosis and treatment were absolutely pivotal in her success. Harper is now in remission, and we choose to remain hopeful and positive! Now she loves hopping like a bunny and showing us how fast she can run! Harper's been through more in her little life than some adults have endured. She faces other health issues in addition to JIA. As her parents, we are in awe of her resilience and proud of everything she accomplishes.
