Happy Halloween from all of us at your family pharmacy! đť đ
Itâs been a difficult time for our downtown businesses. Please visit After Hours before they go! đ đ§
Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, rise in food and operation costs, we will be closing our doors. This decision was not made lightly. We would like to thank everyone in the community, who have supported us these last 2 years. We loved being able to serve our community and will cherish all that we have learned along the way. We will provide an update on the exact date of closure. We hope that you will come in to let us serve you one last time.
Congratulations to Fourth & Hope on another successful Empty Bowls event! Not only did we get to raise funds for their important mission of providing care for the hungry and unhoused but we were treated to a delicious soup lunch provided by many local restaurants.
We are proud to support their important work in our community - and were happy to have Mr. Ed there, not only as our "Manager Emeritus" but as president of Friends of the Mission.
We take Halloween VERY seriously at your family pharmacy. đˇď¸

Congratulations to NAMI Yolo County on a successful NAMIWalks this weekend at Woodland Community College. NAMI is vital to our community, offering mental health support groups at no cost, education and advocacy.
We were excited to be a part of the day, as both a sponsor (shout out to owner Kristina for running our table for the day) and participant with our amazing team of local leaders and advocates, The Walking Heads.
We are 87% to our fundraising goal, we would gratefully accept your tax deductible gift should you like to support NAMIâs goal of ending stigma around mental health. To donate visit https://www.namiwalks.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donate.team&teamID=69374
While we are still recovering from yesterdayâs dissappintment regarding the veto of SB966, we wanted to acknowledge the support of our own Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry. Thank you for your vote to secure the future of independent pharmacy in California because Yolo County is stronger and healthier with our community based pharmacies.
The fight is just beggining and we are in this for the long haul.
Not the news we wanted today.
We are sad to report that today Governor Newsom vetoed SB966, a key piece of legislation weâve been involved with heavily for the last year that would have saved community pharmacy in California. With todayâs veto many independent pharmacies will continue to close due to the unfair practices of PBMs, the unregulated companies that manage drug benefit programs.
It is not the end of our fight, weâve been your independent pharmacy for 127 years but unfortunately today special interest money won.
This is my favorite thing fr
Weâre so sad to see this news today. A major loss for our downtown community but we wish the family and team best wishes for whatâs next.
It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the closing of Las Brasas on Main Street in downtown
Woodland.
It has been a wonderful 10 years owning and operating this location, serving the community and watching our downtown grow. We have been fortunate enough to be a large part of that growth and community and will miss being a part of the day-to-day activities on Main Street.
Rising costs of our core products, poor broad economic conditions, and challenges produced by unfair competition within our city limits were amongst the major reasons for our closure.
We will continue to operate Las Brasas Express located at the Woodland Community and Senior Center.
Additionally, we will shift our focus to off-site catering and event planning, utilizing everything we have learned over the past decade to provide a one stop shop for all event and catering needs.
Although our business will carry on in a different location, we will miss all of the amazing people we have met on this journey on Main Street- our current and former staff, customers and friends. The memories will be cherished forever.
đ¨ Another neighborhood pharmacy closed todayâhighlighting the urgent need for SB 966 and PBM reform. đ
We can't afford to lose more pharmacies that provide vital care to our communities. Help make a difference by urging Governor Gavin Newsom to SIGN SB 966 and protect patient access to pharmacy services.

As a small business, it is always a nice feeling when a former staff member rejoins the team. This one is extra special...Mario is back with us after 7 years away.
One of my original hires when I joined the family business in 2016, Mario's brothers Armando and Miguel also drove with our delivery team through the years. He wanted to let you know "I am happy to return to a historic yet adaptive place, and I am eager to contribute once again!" I think you will all be impressed with his work ethic, friendly demeanor and ability to push through challenges.
Welcome back, Mario!
â ď¸ Improvements are underway! â ď¸
Please excuse the dust and noise as we complete a small renovation to our pharmacy area. Once todayâs project is complete weâll have more room for our clerks and typing techs, and more privacy for our vaccine room. Also, weâve upgraded our staff kitchen with a new dishwashing and utility sink and a new fridge on order.
Working with a 125+ year old building has plenty of challenges but weâve got some exciting things to come.

A huge win for independent pharmacy!
Thank you to everyone who contacted your elected officials to pass PBM reform in California. We have scored a major victory against pharmacy middlemen who are destroying our industry.
Hoping for quick action and approval from our Governor.
Urgent: Do you have one minute to help save independent pharmacy?
Through this link you can send a message to your elected officials to ask that they support SB 966 which will be a vital step in regulating PBMs and keeping community pharmacy alive. This bill is being heard TODAY so please donât wait!
Protect Your Access to Care: Why We Need Your Support Against PBMs | California Pharmacists Association As your pharmacist, I do not discuss how difficult it has become to keep my pharmacy open and continue to provide care to my patients. A huge player in healthcare is the pharmacy benefitsmanagers (PBMs).
Independent pharmacy is at a breaking point across the country.
Every week we hear about more community pharmacies closing with drug costs rising and insurance reimbursements (set by PBMs, barely regulated pharmacy middlemen who handle prescription drug benefits and pocket staggering profits) are steadily dropping. We've been serving as your independent pharmacy for 127 years and are laser focused on remaining a cornerstone (no pun intended) of our community for years to come. But we need your help.
Every time you purchase a supplement, a gift, a toy at our business it helps keep our store running. We now have a staff of over 35 who are dedicated to serving your health needs and work hard every day for your loyalty. We are proud to keep growing our business year after year and want to keep you and your families delighted with our service for generations to come.
Nothing can replace community pharmacy and the work our colleagues in the industry do to serve as your healthcare advocates. We need our community more than ever and always appreciate your support!

It takes a lot to keep a 127 year old family business going and a big part of that is coffee! We love our neighbors at Gallery Coffee Roasters (and special thanks to them for allowing us to use their restroom today while our staff kitchen gets major upgrades!)
