Happy Thanksgiving! We are celebrating our big family Thanksgiving tomorrow, so Jason and I are taking some time to be thankful for each other today. We ordered dinner ahead from our very favorite restaurant Vingenzo's and will be spending the day watching Christmas movies, hanging garland, and indulging in Chef's amazing creations.

I'm so thankful for everyone who has supported this small business of mine and I love knowing that vintage pieces customers have found here will be on their tables today, like this little turkey (sans the disco balls).

Today our JROTC program recreated the vigil at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. From 0600 - 1800 select cadets served as Tomb Sentinels in 30 minute shifts with a full Changing of the Guard ceremony every half hour. A student artist contributed a gorgeous pencil drawing of the tomb to serve in Effigy. The entire experience was solemn and beautifully executed.

My son served as the final Sergeant of the Guard and I thought my heart would explode watching him perform a flawless inspection. I am so thankful that I teach in the same school and that we get to share priceless moments like this. Days like today remind me that soon he will be one of those following his calling to defend our freedom. He will be far from home and this mother's heart will break with both pride and worry.

As the daughter of a veteran and the mother of a son bound for duty I am especially thankful today for all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Early mornings are my favorite time in the workshop planning, designing, dreaming and scheming!

This piece sold almost immediately after it was listed. There is just something about the combo of stained wood and sleek black.

Is still a thing? If not - well, then I'm throwing back to throwback Thursday! The deep navy color of the buffet I posted this week reminds me so much of this sweet console table I finished last winter. It is still one of my favorite pieces and it makes me happy to know that it is being loved in a client's home!
