In the case you were wondering what I was up to and why I have been absent from social media... It's because I have been super busy behind the scenes! This week a piece of my art will be in an exhibit here locally at Reeves House at Woodstock Arts. I am prepping for not one, but TWO festivals this season. Both in October. The Georgia Mushroom Festival (https://georgiamushroomfestival.com) and the Tybee Island Pirate Fest! So many new things exclusive for these festivals. And new stuff in my etsy shop. And I officially have a business manager! So hopefully I can spend more time creating and posting!

I know it's been a while since I've posted. I'll post a video update soon but in the mean time, I did my first show in nearly a year. I was surprised at the turnout of people despite it being hotter than the surface of the sun. And, again, be on the look out for an update on what's new.

I have been working on finding shows and exhibits to do for this year and next. Hopefully I will be seeing everyone in person more often! In the mean time here is my booth from Art on the Green in the fall.

At the suggestion of a friend, I entered a local art contest. I entered in 2 categories and I won first place in both! If you are local, my work will be displayed at the Cherokee History Center with the other winners and you can come and view all the art pieces March 15th 2024 through April 15th 2024. There is also an opening reception On Friday March 15th where all the artists will be there, including myself.

It's been several months since I've picked up my camera. Again. The creative struggle is very much a reality for me in this season. I do have some things brewing. But I need to find the motivation to start.

It's so hard to keep up. As a woman who wears many hats, the list is miles long for each hat. And, burnout is a real thing. Both as a business owner as well as an artist. Sometimes, you just need a little bit of motivation to keep moving forward. What motivates you to keep pushing on?

Another still shot from the past weekend's faun photo shoot. I particularly love this shot. The lighting in the little forest nook where we were was perfectly highlighting her face.

I said I'd post stills from this fantasy photo session with these sisters, and here they are... I loved photographing the girls in my headdresses and makeup. The day we chose to shoot was perfectly overcast for a dreamy light in the forest. It just worked. I'll be posting more all day today.

Sometimes, on a whim, I make jewelry. I usually rework vintage pieces or create statement pieces with sculpted and repurposed vintage pieces. Like these here. Link in my profile for the earrings.

In the case we haven't actually met in person, this is me. This is me in my studio holding my favorite tool that I like to use to express my art. I like old things, ancient things. I love the smell of old books, the earth after it rains and fresh flowers. I love the ocean and the deep forest. It took me most of my life to accept the label of artist. And even now, I struggle to say it out loud. I am a complex creature. I am a dreamer. I am fae.

Brendan, from Secret of the Kells. I had posted one of the images of Aisling from this cosplay shoot and I wanted to post others. So, here's me posting others. There are several images from this session that I'll be posting today.

The Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript. The second image is my vision of what the cover may have looked like, based on other illuminated manuscript covers. The pieces of the book that still survive today are housed in Dublin City's Trinity College. One day, I will go see it in person.

In honor of my Irish family and ancestry (my great-grandfather), I am reposting this photo shoot of Aisling, the forest fairy from The Secret of the Kells. If you have not seen this animated film, it is amazing. The animation is suburb. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. There are several images from this photoshoot. But this image was the first that came to my mind. I'll be posting several images from this series today.

I think it's time to do another faun character. I have a new headdress made with antlers. I want to try a little bit of a different makeup this time, though.
