It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth A. Robinson who had been the oldest member of the House of Iron Gym. Ruth passed just shy of her 100th birthday and will always be remembered as a joyful person with a youthful mindset. Ruth made it clear that you are never too old to start weight training to improve your overall health and vitality.
Congratulations to Tim Makowski in completing a 296.5 pound "Block Clean & Press" at the 2023 NORA Strongest Man Competition. Tim is only 21 pounds away from setting a new world record.

Starting March of 2023, Mike Buzzard will be conducting boxing / fitness classes which will focus on conditioning, strength and endurance. The classes will be start on Thursday, 03/02/2023 and will run from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm every Monday and Thursday afternoon/evening. Interested persons should purchase a set of basic boxing gloves (built in wrist straps) along with a pair of hand wraps. Mike will also be offering individual training for beginners to advanced level students. The cost of the classes will be $80.00 per month. Congratulations to Jesse Butler who was awarded Firefighter of the Year (Canton, Ohio). Jesse, along with his co-workers, saved two individuals from separate house fires. Jesse also competed in a team strongman competition this month. Although his teammate had to withdraw halfway through the competition due to injury, Jesse finished the competition on his own and still finished second.

Jim Jones still going strong at age 90 thanks to his loving wife, Janice Jones, and his hard work at the House of Iron. Age is just a number… keep moving!

Congratulations to Alex Telatko who deadlifted 300 pounds at 15 years of age. This is an impressive lift and only the beginning of many more personal records.
Congratulations to Brody Schultz who had a new PR with a 355 pound squat at 17 years of age and 156 pounds of bodyweight. 405 lb is on the horizon.
The House of Iron will be offering boxing classes starting this Tuesday evening (5:45 pm to 7:00 pm) and Saturday mornings (7:45 am to 9:00 am). The classes will be instructed by Mike Buzzard who has been training for 25 years and has competed in the amateur ranks. Mike has a degree in physical education and is a licensed coach.
No experience is required and the classes will focus on the fundamentals of boxing which will allow participants to lose weight, gain cardio endurance and learn self defense skills.
Participants will need to obtain 16oz boxing gloves with Velcro wrist closures. These can be purchased locally at Dick's Sporting Goods or online. Participants will also need hand wraps and a mouth guard. Clothing should be shorts/sweats , t-shirt and good tennis shoes.
Again, classes start this Tuesday (May 3rd) and the rates are as follows....
$80 per month which covers all classes
$40 per month if only attending one class per week
$15 if paying per session

Our members are like family to us and to our members we are like a second home. Unfortunately with what is going on in the world right now it is required that we must all stay at our own homes for the time being. Our thoughts our love and our prayers are with each of our members but we are obligated to follow the governors rules and we Will be closing the gym until further notice. No members or nonmembers will have access or should try to gain access to the gym until we are informed we can open again.

Talk about a great thanksgiving Patrick Stevens killing it at the Thanksgiving Throwdown!! Competed in the 125 Kg class going 6/9 on lifts totaling out at 2000.6 pounds with a wilks score of 520!! Busting out the trifecta by winning not only his weight class but the best raw lifter and the best overall lifter at the meet!!!

Here’s a vid of Brice deadlifting ending up pulling 425 for his first competition competing in the 242 pound weight class!
Brandon Zemrock pulled up 452 pounds while competing in the 165 pound weight class!!!
Trevor Fetzer ended up with 529 on deadlift. John Eberly ended up with 540 on deadlift. And Eric Tracy ended up with 585 on deadlift.
We had a great time at the Northcoast Push-Pull competition on Saturday! Everyone walked away with a medal including a 3rd place finish, three 2nd place finishes and a 1st place finish. It was especially nice to walk away with the trophy and strongest lifter to show up, Eric Tracy stealing the show with the highest wilks score!!!!
