With the Denholms exhibit over, I wanted to thank the Worcester Historical Museum, all of the generous sponsors, and everyone who attended. We hope the collection brought back happy memories for everyone.

We are very excited to be prepping our winter exhibit “Denholms, The Name was Magic.” The exhibit, which opens November 2, will highlight the department store’s history in the city and will feature items from the store.
This hand-painted sign for the August rug and furniture sale will be one of the many items on exhibit from private collections. Do you remember this annual sale? Maybe you recall doing your school shopping at the store. Did you work at the store? Maybe as one of Santa’s helpers or at a beauty counter. We want to hear your Denholms stories. Please take a moment to share your shopper and employee stories through the links below. We may include them in the exhibit.

What is your favorite memory of Denholms?
I was ecstatic on Friday when I went to the Denholm building and got to see the original elevators for the first time. These have been behind a wall on all floors, so it was perfectly encapsulated from time. This is the first time they have been seen since the store closed in 1973! Other than debris on the floor, they are pristine condition, and the power still worked!!!

In 1975 there was a public sale of all remains fixtures and carpeting from the former Denholms store. If anyone knows of anything that is still around from this sale please let me know. We would like to include it in the exhibit this coming fall at the Worcester Historical Museum.
Thank you!
We are still on the hunt for the former Santa's chair. If anyone knows where this might be, we would like to use it in the Denholms exhibit this coming fall. It was sold at the public auction in 1975 after the store closed. If anyone knows it's whereabouts please contact me.
Thank you!
you!
Happy Father's Day
