We are an alliance of dedicated individuals with a commitment to institute fundamental change in the lives of those touched by breast cancer.
Some very sad news to share. I’ve waited a week to post this to give the family some time to grieve. RIP Bob Quinlan, you were loved by so many 💔
Allie Whitenett thrives in her bc recovery and her kids play a supporting role💞 We love this!!!!
Recently, we said farewell to some awesome College of the Holy Cross students who were the co-chairs of HC for a Cure. Before they left, they presented us with a check for $11,626 for the UMass Memorial Comprehensive Breast Center.
These are special humans who take the time to make a difference in our community💞🙏
From cofounder Rebecca Soulliere:
📣 Today marks SIXTEEN years - yes, you read that right, 16 years of being “re-alive” after finishing my chemo for TNBC.
❓What’s the big deal about a “chemoversary” and why do I celebrate it every year?
😰 When faced with an aggressive form of cancer while young, you simply don’t know if you are going to live or die. Despite chemo + medical treatment.
😱 When faced with an aggressive form of cancer that has a high recurrence rate, that uncertainty is much heavier and worrisome.
Here’s some of the “big deal”:
🥳 It’s like a whole new birthday - the day you count as that second chance, being “born” again, the chance to make every year chock full of memories and milestones and adventures and love.
❤️ It means the milestones I begged for during treatment have had the luxury of time and me still being here to experience said milestones. For example, I begged the universe to let me see my kids graduate high school during my dark days….I am now 2 for 3, with my precious chemo baby about to become a JUNIOR in HS. I begged the universe to let me see my kids graduate college…also 2 for 3. I begged the universe to let me see my kids get married…we have the first one later this year. I get to be MOM - when I feared my kids would be left without one and dad would have a greater responsibility that he signed up for. And a 28 year wedding anniversary recently!
🩷 It means for my fellow pink sisters, both in active treatment or survivorship, they have inspiration and hope - that if I’m surviving and thriving at 16 years out, they have a very real chance too!
💛 It means my medical team, many of which I’m friends with - wait, family with - get to know their hard work in the cancer field and their gentle, loving care has successfully kept me ALIVE. Without it and them, I would NOT be here. They loved me through my darkest times.
🤪 Yes, I live a big and loud life - unapologetically - but it’s simply because I CAN and I SHOULD since I’m eternally grateful for this date circling around sixteen years later.
❣️ I appreciate everyone who has gotten me here today with friendship, care, and love.
🤗 Now go hug your loved ones and live a BIG life, I insist.
