๐ Meet Jordan Howard-Young, our visionary Director of Psychiatric Services at FHCW! ๐
Jordan is the Program Director for both the Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship and the PMHNP Fellowship, Co-Chair of the Trauma-Informed Care Committee, and a member of the Steering and Incident Committees. His role highlights his commitment to holistic and compassionate mental health care.
Jordanโs days are diverse, balancing collaborations with departments, clinical supervision, patient care, and developing innovative tools. His administrative duties keep the psychiatric department running smoothly.
Jordan joined FHCW as a Family Medicine Resident (2018-2021) and transitioned to permanent staff, driven by his passion for community health. His background in community organizing, public health, and healthcare policy led him to medical school with the goal of working in a Community Health Center (CHC). He focuses on community service and influencing organizational changes for equity, trauma-informed care, and empowerment.
What Jordan values most is the deep connections he builds with patients and staff, enriching both their growth and his own. He is particularly proud of the multi-year effort in developing the Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship, designed to help primary care providers address both physical and mental health needs, reflecting his dedication to comprehensive care.
Outside of work, Jordan enjoys time with his partner and toddler, reading, exploring new places, cooking, and diving into Star Trek and Broadway musicals. He recommends Lilac Hedge Farm in Rutland and the Worcester Public Library for local adventures.
Jordan is passionate about recognizing and addressing trauma and advocates for compassionate, responsive systems. His greatest inspiration is his 2.5-year-old, Wren, whose curiosity drives him to create a better world.
Celebrate Jordan Howard-Young, a leader whose dedication to compassionate care and innovative change profoundly impacts our community! ๐

As we observe National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, we take a moment to recognize the profound impact that Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) have on mental well-being, particularly within racial and ethnic minoritized communities and among American Indian/Alaska Native populations. ๐๐
At Family Health Center of Worcester, we understand that factors such as access to healthcare, social support, housing stability, and food security can significantly influence mental health outcomes. Our Behavioral Health services are designed to address these critical issues and provide the support and resources needed to foster mental wellness.
We are also proud to highlight our dedicated Community Health Workers (CHWs), who play a crucial role in addressing SDOH needs. Whether identifying housing needs during assessments or providing support with housing applications, our CHWs are on the front lines, ensuring our community members receive the assistance they need.
By acknowledging and addressing these social determinants, we can work towards a more equitable healthcare system where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. Join us in spreading awareness and advocating for change.
Together, letโs make a difference.
