Established in Old Worthington in July of 2016, our intimate and nurturing yoga and wellness studio was created by Worthington mom and Yoga Instructor/Ayurvedic Health Educator, Katherine Yannucci, as a home away from home. Our mission is to design a lifestyle that inspires change through the ancient practices of Yoga, Ayurveda, Reiki, and Meditation. On this journey we will travel together in the spirit of awareness, balance and transformation for optimum health and fulfillment.

Dorsality and Your Belly! The next Polyvagal workshop with Marcia Miller is here!

As we have learned in the Polyvagal workshops over the last few years, one of the states of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) is the Dorsal Vagal (DV). Most of the nerves in this system are located like a web in the belly, and when activated (as the Polyvagal Theory goes) take us into a collapsed and dissociated state. This is a very good thing if you are being eaten by a tiger—you don’t want to be consciously there for that—and now some of us are wondering if there is much more to what happens in this state. In fact, Gabriel Kram (one of my main teachers of the ANS) thinks that there are at least 3 dorsalities, and how we get into our collapsed state determines what might help us to come back into our lives. He suggests that the three entry ways into dorsal vagal are shock, burnout, and grief. I have had many experiences in my life that lead me to believe this is true, and as a yogi, I have explored practices that support each of these experiences back into connection a connected (Ventral Vagal state).
In this workshop, we’ll lay out the ideas and then enjoy practices that will enliven our bellies in gentle yet powerful and even fun ways.
Class will be in person (space is limited) and on livestream. Recordings will also be available for those who can’t be there in person.

Reiki Level 1 with Brittny Manos
April 26-27th
In this training, you will be attuned by a Reiki Master so that Reiki connection is then available to you for the rest of your life. The focus of the Level 1 Attunement is to create connection with the Universal Life Force Energy. You will learn how to put language to your direct experiences of Reiki, often described as the ever-present universal loving life force energy here for all of us to access. We will have conversations to honor Reiki’s traditional Japanese lineage which includes learning the hands-on healing modality and techniques taught by Usui Sensei passed through initiation. You will deepen your relationship with Reiki energy healing through contemplations, experiments, support, and self-Reiki.
What to expect from the Level 1 Attunement:
Reiki is primarily an experiential practice. In many classes and workshops, we anticipate that knowledge will be given to us by the teacher. While there is some knowledge to share, the heart of the session is your own experience. In addition to the four attunements, we will:
~learn about Reiki history and lineage,
~introduce foundations and philosophy,
~explore the principles (precepts) of Reiki in the context of our 21st century experience,
~discuss the 7-Chakra system (the basis for our attunements),
~understand the importance of self-Reiki and the hand positions for treatment,
~engage in energy play,
~experience Reiki in community

Therapeutic Breathing- 6 workshop series with Linda Oshins begins April 27th.
While pranayama, the yoga breathing practices, are therapeutic in themselves, they are not focused on correcting dysfunctional breathing patterns and many of them should not be practiced unless your students normally breathe in a healthy way. This series of sessions will look at common dysfunctional breathing patterns and give you practices that lead toward a balanced everyday breath. If you are a yoga teacher, you can work this material into your weekly asana classes over time, lead workshops on how to take a healthy breath or work with private clients to address their concerns. Past attendees have also included medical professionals in diverse specialties, somatic therapists of different kinds and energy workers. All students are welcome. The prerequisite for this course is The Tour of the Breath Muscles workshop. If you didn’t attend that in person you can purchase the recording.

WRITING AND DRAWING MEDITATION SERIES

There are an infinite number of ways to meditate. Journaling is a tried-and-true meditation practice that isn’t always named as such. Yet writing has a number of benefits including being a way to stay focused on what is happening inside, and making room for different voices within us. Sometimes it’s important to write and throw away, and other times, when you are done, you can look back and remember the journey and follow your progress over time.
In this 6-week course you’ll learn a variety of ways to approach writing meditation. We’ll ask interesting questions and write about whatever wants to be known within us. And, if it seems appropriate or useful, we’ll add a few pictures along the way. Whether you draw “like a kid” or have art training, this aspect of tracking our experiences can be revelatory, especially for those who have never drawn or who have drawn and felt judged. Spring Break’s on the horizon… and then it’s over.
There’s snow on the ground… and then there’s not. (And then there is again.) I’m talking to you, Ohio!
From temperatures to daylight to dates on the calendar, this can be a strange time of year, filled with rapid changes that can leave you feeling a bit disoriented or even sluggish.
Fortunately, this transition doesn’t have to leave you feeling stuck in the MUD. (trust me! it will make more sense as you keep reading!)

I have always found spring to be a time of slow awakening. I was never one to jump right into getting ready for summer and spring for me felt a bit heavy or tired. Don’t get me wrong! The blue skies and sunshine have an immediate affect on my mood and energy. But, I have tended to be a bit slow to release my grip on hibernating. When I began to study Ayurveda, I found that this is actually a real thing. That according to Ayurveda, this is the time of Kapha, the time of Earth and Water. And we all know what happens when Earth and Water combine-MUD!

Tour of the Breath Muscles with Linda Oshins on March 9th and 10th. 1:00-3:30pm.
As yogis, or perhaps other kinds of somatic explorers, we know the immediacy of feeling into the body and experiencing first-hand how it works and why—not only its physical functioning but its energetic properties. In this workshop, we’ll do practices that let us feel into each of the major breathing muscles or muscle groups and end by watching them work synchronously in ourselves. In some ways this is a standard anatomy class—which muscles are used in breathing, where they are, what they look like, how their location and shape dictates their function—but it’s also, always experiential in nature. We’ll talk about optimal and dysfunctional breathing patterns and end up knowing how we ourselves breath, our own patterns. By workshop’s end, we will feel refreshed and energized by our experiences. This is the prerequisite for the longer course on therapeutic breathing. Everyone is invited to join this workshop: yoga teachers, yoga students and anyone else who is interested.
Linda Oshins has taught pranayama (yoga breathing practices) and therapeutic breathing practices for over 20 years. Breathing practices can lead to physical and emotional health as well as opening spiritual pathways into meditation and insight. This class is taught over Zoom and will be recorded.

What Do I Do With all the Stuff I’m Welcoming?
Skills in Mediation Series begins January 10th, 5pm.
Meditation can be the most authentic time of our lives where we experience the full freedom to be ourselves. As we learn to relax and settle into our sweet spot, often, what shows up are the parts of ourselves we have stuffed away in dark corners without having digested them. This is good, and sometimes hard. And in the brilliance of meditation, we almost always feel better afterwards no matter what happens during the practice. In this course we’ll explore skills that are helpful in healthfully navigating the flux and flow of whatever is coming through us during meditation. We’ll learn and practice:
creating a foundation of wellbeing
personal cues and practices of safety and connection
how meditation is a wired in us as a superpower for survival
titrating the amount of what can come through at any given time
sitting in the middle of intensity

Begin or begin again! Yoga foundations with Melanie Miller begins Monday January 8th 6:30-7:30pm.
Yoga Foundations will set the stage for a life-long yoga practice. In addition to covering yoga poses (asana) and touching on yogic philosophy, students will learn breath work, beginning meditation and relaxation in the Hatha Yoga tradition. Poses will explore the full range of motion and balance with modifications offered for people of all ability levels. In addition to weekly one-hour livestream classes, additional themed resources will be offered by email each week. Open to all in good health and curious about exploring the practice of yoga or for those who want to revisit the foundations of yoga. Class is offered both in-person and virtually for those that want to join from home.
