R.V. Groves Elementary School, WISD

1st grade has had a busy few weeks! Mr. Wiggles came and taught us about how to treat our classroom libraries and we have been getting creative with things to do during indoor recess with this crazy hot weather!!

Check out our third graders kicking off the school year with an important lesson: Teamwork makes the dream work! Through fun and engaging activities, our gators have been working together to build strong classroom communities.

Our wonderful Mrs. Bach has had the privilege to accept a new position at Wylie High School. We will miss her dearly and know that our students and families will too! I wanted to make sure to share this information with parents today as we plan to let the students know Friday morning on the announcements. She has grown the love of reading for all of our Gators over the years and would appreciate your hugs, support and well wishes. She has plans to come back to Groves to visit and read to students as often as her schedule will allow! As Mrs. Bach always says, "Great Gators Read!"

Hey Gator Families! Our amazing PTA is considering booking a family night at Hawaiian Waters in May of 2025. Because they have to get it on the calendar soon, they want to gauge interest first. It would be $25 entry per person. Please take a moment to fill out this 3 question survey!

Thank you for your patience at dismissal as everyone learns how to go home. Today we were done by 3:20 and each day will get quicker! Please remember to communicate with your teacher on how your child is going home. Parents need to stay in the car if they are car riders. The back loop if for buses and daycare only. If you are picking up from the gym, the parking lot will close as it is full and you will need to park and walk from the front. We do not accept student dismissal changes after 2:20 to ensure that we have all students safely accounted for! We can't wait for day 2!

We’ve had a great start to the day already! Just a reminder that we are asking visitors to wait to come have lunch until August 26th. We are looking forward to our students making new friends and gaining independence the first two weeks 🐊 We would love for you to comment with your first day pictures below!

With school starting on Thursday, Ms. Horan, our counselor, wanted to send this out to help with separation fears for kids starting school.
