Private piano studio offering piano lessons for students ages 3 through adult, beginner to advanced. Teaching others is my passion and I love to pass the love of music to others. Lessons include learning piano concepts along with technique and theory. Lessons also available for high school age musicians, with or without a piano background, who are interested in pursuing a music major at the college level. These lessons would be geared toward passing piano proficiency requirements.

Teresa Engelmann grew up in rural Minnesota, where she began taking formal piano lessons at the age of 10 and began teaching beginner level students at the age of 16. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of North Dakota-Grand Forks in 1996. Teresa taught private lessons throughout college as a means of supporting herself and paying tuition. Through those lessons she developed a love for teaching. She returned to Minnesota, where she taught lessons in her hometown for several years. Feeling the need to venture further away from home, she picked up and moved to Dallas, Texas. She began working for State Farm in 1999, but continued teaching lessons on a part-time basis and playing piano for weekly church services.

In 2006, her family was transferred to Bloomington, Illinois. After arriving in Bloomington, Teresa opened up a new piano studio. She cut back her hours at State Farm so she could spend more time teaching. In 2010 she left State Farm to go back to school to pursue a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from Illinois State University. She received a graduate assistantship with school, which involved teaching group piano classes to music majors. Teresa completed her degree in May of 2012 and was asked to return the following year as a part-time faculty member to continue teaching group piano classes. In addition to studying classical piano, she also studied organ and jazz piano, performing with the top jazz band as pianist. She maintained her studio in Bloomington until State Farm transferred the family back to Texas to the new office in Richardson. The family chose to settle in Wylie.

Teresa suspended teaching for a couple of years to get settled and adjusted to the area. In April 2017, she left State Farm to teach full time, working as a teacher at Ballard Street Music Company. Teresa left that position at the end of April 2018 to run her own private piano studio.
