Zeeshan Riaz drives the business development strategy for StEPS with special expertise in supporting institutional linkages and collaborations to expand their internationalization potential. He leads on Monroe College, New York’s Transnational Education initiatives, and has been

working closely with University of Warwick since 2002, focusing on international brand building and student recruitment in the region. A certified British Council ‘Trainer of Trainers’, and Clinical Therapist from UK’s renowned Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy with a strong multi sectoral background, he also provides mentorship for students, alongside leadership and soft skills trainings in time management, change management and staff well-being. Zeeshan has been a consultant and trainer for several private and government organizations, helping them become more efficient and agile. He has been involved in Green-field and Public & Private sector partnerships (PPPs) development projects in Norway, and government bodies including the Privatization Commission of Pakistan, Punjab Judicial Academy and the Lahore High Court.

2. Saima Asghar Riaz, Co-Founder & CEO

Saima Asghar Riaz completed her MA in English Language Teaching with distinction from Warwick University. Her dissertation research was based on Educational Management and Teacher Training and she has been involved in the academic and professional development of students and professionals since 1998 when she was invited by her Alma mater Warwick University to be their exclusive International Office representative alongside her teaching commitments in two premier universities of Pakistan. She possesses extensive teaching and teacher training experience. She has been the Founding Director for Faculty Development & Internationalisation at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), Pakistan where she worked closely with the Vice Chancellor and relevant Deans and Directors to guide on improvements in curricula, assessment techniques, and implementation of international standards in the respective faculty and institute by successfully setting up a Faculty Development Centre, an International Resource Centre and Pakistan’s first university-level mandatory Citizenship Programme in collaboration with the British Council. She was thus responsible for supporting the enhancement of teaching and research capability of the university, creating linkages with local and international partners, and raising the university profile on an international academic platform. Prior to this Saima taught Masters students at Kinnaird College for Women and undergraduate students at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). She has also taught English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at Warwick University, and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) at the Virtual University. She is a British Council certified IELTS expert, and in her capacity as a language teacher and teacher trainer, she has also developed and delivered professional development training for various public and private organisations including the Lahore High Court, Ali Institute of Education, and School of Education at LUMS. Our Founder .asghar.riaz spent several years in her early career supporting educators to develop their teaching styles to match the learning styles of students. At STEPSEdu we have now developed a service to support teenagers to discover their learning styles before they enter the tough high school and university years.

In a Learning Styles assessment session with a 12 year old today we discovered that she has a strong visual preference so we explored strategies she could use to maximize learning visually. We also looked at how to mitigate the effects of her lower aural learning capacity through strategies that will help with retention in the classroom.

What was also uncovered was that while she works extremely well on her own and in small peer groups, she struggles in larger groups because she feels overlooked.

Our subsequent coaching session will focus on helping her develop effective strategies for collaborative learning, including claiming space in groups which can be a major roadblock for introverted teenage girls.
