I'm not sure how to word this post, as I'm feeling so many emotions I can't even process. Last month, we found out that our house was going be put up for sale. This is the second time in less than two years this has happened to us, and each time, it causes so much stress and anxiety. We searched for properties here but could not find anything that fit the needs of our family. Unfortunately, that means I am moving back to the South, and Southern Heart will no longer be a part of the Yakima community. This is all happening so fast, and I am stressed beyond belief. We still have a bunch of kitties in foster homes that need to find their forever homes and a debt of over $2k we owe to our spay and neuter clinic. I need your support more than ever. If you can donate to pay down our debt, it would be amazing. But also adopt our amazing kitties and add a wonderful family member to your family. I'll be having one last yard sale next weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 8-4 at 818 S. 48th Ave. Most importantly, though, I want to thank each and every one of you for 5 years of support and love. Thanks to you all, we've been able to save thousands of cats in Yakima County and the surrounding areas between our adoption program and TNR. Am I your kitty? Found recently on the loading dock at Kohl's in Union Gap. No microchip, very friendly, and vocal long-haired/Russian Blue mix. Must have proof of ownership to reclaim.

Today was both the happiest and saddest day of the year for me. Miss Merry was finally adopted after coming into rescue in 2021 as a VERY feral kitten, being adopted, and then being returned due to no fault of her own. Of course, she was welcomed back with love but then had to face several health issues. She is the sweetest cat ever and loves people. She will literally climb your leg to get cuddles and always tells you when the food bowl is getting empty. Now, she is on her way to the Quincy area to hopefully help heal the hearts of her wonderful new family. ❤️ She will be greatly missed, but I could not be happier for her. She takes a part of my heart with her. Happy tails Mer-Bear, enjoy being spoiled rotten in your finally forever home. 💕

These two 9 month old cuties are now in the Petco habitat! Meet Jester (gray tabby and white) and Squirrel (brown tabby)! These two are full of playful energy, love toys, people, other kitties, and dogs. Squirrel is even best friends with a massive Cane Corso! Both would make good additions to families with children. Who's at Petco right now? Siblings Graycee and John, who are around 6/7 months old and 3 year old Ripley! All 3 are shy at first, but will love someone wholeheartedly given time to adjust. John is coming out of his shell a lot at Petco and loves pets and touching noses with you! Ripley loves her fishy toy, snacks, and belly rubs.. lots of belly rubs! Graycee is still a little unsure of her environment change from her foster home to Petco but will accept pets and kind words. Head to Petco to meet them today and stay tuned because I think this week we will be adding some crazy, outgoing kittens to the mix, too!

I guess it is time to let the cat out of the bag or, realistically, the cat out of the Petco habitat! Berlin has been with me since birth and through countless health issues, surgeries, and near death scares. In January, after 3 years of dealing with her health issues, I finally felt confident in putting her up for adoption. It was a hard choice as she was very bonded to myself and my family. She spent several weeks in the habitat doing well, making friends, and stealing extra treats, but every single time she would see me, she would light up. Every time I had to leave, though, she would scream and cry, prompting me to do the same in my car. It killed me. I hoped she would get an amazing adoption application, but she didn't. I couldn't understand how no one was interested in my little beauty. So, last week after long talks with both my father and boyfriend repeatedly, we brought her home to stay. I'm happy to report that she is over the 🌙 to be back home with her family. I wasn't looking for another kitty, but Berbs had other plans. Happy tails, Berlin. You know Mama will spoil rotten all your days. 🖤

It was an early morning for nine feral community cats as they made their way to for TNR! Their lives will be so much better and they will be healthier without all the breeding and inbreeding. We cannot continue to do TNR without the support of our community, though it is something we love and feel passionate about. It is clinic day today! 9 babies are getting spayed and neutered and will be up for adoption this weekend! Stay tuned for pictures and bios of these amazing babies! Today was the saddest day of the new year, at the advice of our veterinarians we released Mr. B and Dora from their pain and suffering after spending thousands trying to save them. Mr. B has been with me for years since he was a tiny kitten and has always been sickly. Poor Dora just had failure to thrive. While I know I made the right decision, my heart is broken. 💔 I feel like I failed. At this point, our finances are in rough shape, and we desperately community support and donations to go on. I paid $350 to the vet and will have to pay another $75 for cremation so Mr. B can come home to me. We also need to spend another $100 to pick up pellets for litter today. Ripley and Berlin have moved into the Petco habitat and desperately want their forever homes!

Ripley has spent 3 years with us and multiple times been in the habitat. I have no clue why this gorgeous dilute calico girl continues to be overlooked. She is shy at first but bonds hard to people once given the time. She LOVES her favorite toy a catnip fish that she constantly plays with and carries around. She would be best for a quieter home without children. Ripley has been raised in a home with other kitties and a small dog.

Berlin has been with me since birth. I have fought hard to get her healthy and save her eyes. She is 3 years old as well and is utterly purrfect. She is a wonderful mix of independent but also follows you around and asks for attention. She doesn't love to be picked up but will do anything for a good head scratch. She is a tiny thing and knows how adorable she is. Her eyesight is perfect now, and last year we decided to have a procedure done to remove rhe third eyelid that refused to retract. Her favorite thing is to curl up and nap in the warmest place in the house. She does great with dogs and cats but is fine alone as well. She would be best with a home older children or no children. She is s stunning girl and the sweetest thing. She loves treats!

6 days into the new year was the best day for Mustachio, as she finally found her purrfect forever home!
