Happy Father's Day

So much of life is shaped by the people we look up to the most. For many, that person is Dad. For better or worse, we meticulously watch, learn, mimic and emulate their actions and behavior. My Dad (Ocko 🇸🇰) is the springboard of everything our little family has accomplished. While he may come off, to some, as a serious and maybe even intimidating man, he's really a playful and kind heart. He is the type of person that will literally do ANYTHING for the people he loves. And I'm not just saying that like some cliche.


While doing my morning routine one summer morning, I flushed the master bathroom toilet. To my surprise, it literally blew up out of the ground! 😱 I found out that the sewer lines have been blocked by 25 years worth of tree root growth. Plumbers gave me quotes ranging from $13,000 to $20,000 to fix it. Immediately panic set in; I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY! But... I learned a few valuable lessons watching my Dad growing up.

1. Do it yourself
2. Don't be afraid to try

So I thought to myself, how hard can it be to dig up some dirt, cut out some pipe and fit in some new line. I pitched the idea to my Dad, and without hesitation, he had my back. Long story short, we tore apart the front yard, installed some brand new sewer lines, and passed inspection. The total cost? ~$3,000!


Whether it's the 600 sq ft of pavers, the businesses we built with our bare hands, or the truck my Dad is renovating. The lesson is the same, you are capable, don't be afraid, and anything is possible.
