A favorite photo when reflecting on Earth Day
Happy Earth Day! 🌎
Get outside and celebrate today!
A sneak peek of my latest listing - sold for a record breaking price in this Yorba Linda complex! 🏡
It’s definitely a seller’s market right now 😉
Congratulations to my amazing seller and friend! Her beautiful home set a sales record for the complex - well deserved for all of the love she put into it! 🏡
Snuck away on Saturday for some library fun! 🙌
Library sewing class with a touch of machine quilting included! Lots of fun! And went home with a completed table runner! 🌻
Hope you enjoyed a glorious first day of spring!
Whether you’re a mathematician or just enjoy puns, happy pi day to you!
This month’s book club book. Read the back cover and was afraid to get emotionally invested. Glad I did.
Just a quick reminder! Do you set your clocks ahead tonight or wait until tomorrow?
Finished product! Happy Valentine’s Day!
…and after!
Before…
One of the perks of work-from-home days are the lunch breaks! Taking a walk with Shiloh and enjoying the YL trails. Always a highlight of the day! Now back to work!🌞🐶
Book Title Challenge Day 53: TWINS! Hard to believe this wasn’t my very first post! Book is by Caroline B. Cooley. Thankfully L&L bear no resemblance to her Madrigal and Mary Lee!
Book Title Challenge Day Day 52: AN OBJECT OF BEAUTY! I was going to be philosophical and say that we are all objects of beauty, because we are, but I decided to be a more concrete thinker and use the beautiful parrot mural at the entrance to the St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton. I never stopped to enjoy it until yesterday. Titled “Companionship, Caring, Community,” it was created by 5th-8th grade Fullerton School District students to celebrate the beauty of the wild parrots in Fullerton. And the book? A sophisticated art world story written by multi-talented Steve Martin. I found the best part to be the photos and stories of famous art pieces!
Here’s the book!
Book Title Challenge Day 51: THE GOWN! (In our case, the caps and gowns) have arrived! Final college classes were today. Next up are finals. Eleven days to graduation! The Gown, by Jennifer Robson, is historical fiction based on “the” royal wedding in 1947 with a tie to modern day. I enjoyed this one as an audio book. Never sure about historical fiction - I like fiction and non-fiction, but the blend of both gets confusing. I did, however, learn about the design house of Norman Hartwell and some fascinating behind-the-scenes details!
Book Title Challenge Day 50: Duck, Duck, GOOSE! Couldn’t resist this one after having to stop the car for geese yesterday. Duck, Duck, Goose is written and illustrated by Tad Hills. (Didn’t know there was a book when I was little, but definitely played the game a few hundred times!)
Book Title Challenge Day 49: MISS BUNCLE’S BOOK! This was the last book club book before the library closed for quarantine. Written by D.E. Stevenson, it is a sweet story of our perception of others and ourselves. Although I almost had to go back to the beginning to keep the story straight - it’s a book about a woman writing a book about a woman writing a book. That’s a bit of a riddle!
And here’s the book!
Book Title Challenge Day 48: IT. HAPPENED. AGAIN! Those pesky squirrels! It will be hard to spot, but today’s squirrel was lying in wait on the top of the fence until we came around the corner. Then it was off to the races, as they say. Today’s book is IT, by Stephen King. Another great author. Lots of thought-provoking thrills and chills. I used to buy them the instant they were out. Gave them up somewhere along the way, but still a fan. Enjoy the video!
Book Title Challenge Day 47: AGATHA RAISIN AND THE FAIRIES OF FRYFAM! There is a “fairy tree” along one of our walking trails — if you look closely, you can see the face on the tree. We enjoy it every single time we walk past! The book title is from the Agatha Raisin mystery series by M.C. Beaton. I had listened to the audio book and then found out it was #10 in a series, so I went back and read all 30 in order (thank goodness for our local libraries!). Yes, there is a television show based on the books, but that Agatha Raisin is not the one you grow to love (and shake your head at) in the books!
Book Title Challenge Day 46: LIBERTY! We had the chance to see the Memorial Day military plane flyover from the Main Place parking lot. A perfect vantage point as they flew over St. Joseph’s. My pictures aren’t the best — I’m sure you will find better, but we are so glad we got to see the planes! Today’s book is Liberty, by Lynn Curlee, a picture book of the building of the Statue of Liberty. Fun fact: workers who finished welding the base placed coins from their pockets into the pedestal to be a part of history.
Celebrate. Remember. Honor. I know many of the public events and flag placement ceremonies have been cancelled this year. Some cities have asked citizens to place hand-drawn American flags in their windows. And to fly a flag if you own one like always. And many cemeteries are allowing private remembrances. Here in So Cal, there will be a Memorial Day flyover of 18 historic planes. So while our celebrations may be different in 2020, we can still remember and honor those who fought and died for our country.
Book Title Challenge Day 45: BAREFOOT SEASON! (Or, what to do with surprise finds during quarantine cleaning.) Found some of my Gunne Sax dresses from long ago so we had a “barefoot in summer dresses” themed dinner in the backyard. A little different look than our Tiger King meal! The book is Barefoot Season by Susan Mallery. Perhaps a good summer read; fine, but not fabulous. Hope you enjoy your own quarantine cleaning finds as well!
Book Title Challenge Day 44: STANLEY THE MAILMAN! Well, we’re working on “Shiloh, The Maildog” over here! Today’s book is by William Bee. Happy Friday, everyone!
Book Title Challenge Day 43: PLEASE DON’T EAT THE DAISIES! We’ve been enjoying the spring flowers during our daily walk, which leads to today’s book: Please Don’t Eat The Daisies by Jean Kerr. I read the book long, long ago. I remember loving the dog. Some things don’t change!
