Hospitality and Tourism students in our project based learning class helped plan and organize this week's "Grand Reopening" event for the Hampton Inn South and Home2 Suites. Thanks to all of the High Hotel managers that worked with them on the project.
The Graham School of Business was represented at the Pennsylvania DECA State Career Development Conference at the Hershey Lodge - where over 3000 students competed for a chance to go to nationals.
The Graham School of Business hosted the FBLA Region 6 Leadership Conference with over 300 students attending. Dr. Molly Sauder conducted a panel discussion on business careers and YCP faculty and staff judged events. Thanks to the panelists - Professor Richard Butler, GSB students - Ethan Feaser, Elizabeth Kerin and Bailee Grunstra. and Alumni - Abigail Wurzbach. Congratulations to all of the FBLA participants!

Dr. Becker's Project Based Learning class presented their project results to the York County History Center. Students represented GSB programs including Hospitality and Tourism and Sport Management.
Hospitality and Tourism Management students volunteered to help with the Veterans to DC event coordinated by Bailey Coach. Thank you Veterans for your Service!
York College of Pennsylvania students visited New York City for a day tour on Friday, 20th of October. Dr. James Norrie, Dr. Syed Uddin and Dr. Pawan Madhogarhia along with 27 students from different majors. Primary attractions visited were Bloomberg and NASDAQ.
Sean Altberger, GSB '14 gave our Hospitality and Tourism Management students a tour of the AKA Nomad Hotel while attending the NY International Travel Show. Sean is the Senior Marketing Manager for AKA Hotels & Hotel Residences.
The Executive Speaker Series of the Graham School of Business at York College of Pennsylvania on the theme of "Excellence in Leadership" presents Ms. Sara Parrish, President of CampusDoor.
Ms. Parrish will be speaking on Wednesday, October 25th, 2023 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in Weinstock Lecture Hall, Willman Business Center on the topic “Funding Futures: Challenges and Opportunities at a Student Lending Fintech”. All are welcome!

MGT 380 Leadership and Change had a great opportunity, the mock interview was attended by 51 students on Thursday, September 28 and was successfully completed despite the power outage.
American Marketing Association launches Central PA chapter.
With nearly 80 members joining over the past several months, the AMA of Central PA is the fastest-growing chapter in the nation. The chapter serves members from across southcentral Pennsylvania. Attached are photos from two recent events: a networking industry mixer held March 14 at the Manufacturers’ Association in York; and a Community Catalyst Roundtable event held April 27 at the Susquehanna Art Museum in Harrisburg. The next event will be held June 30 in Harrisburg.

Port of Baltimore - Field Trip
The students in the supply chain program at York College of Pennsylvania are at it again. Best learning and engagement to the course content happens when we connect theory to practice.
This time our students got a in-depth tour on understanding port operations. We discussed activities related to loading, unloading cargo, role of customs and border protection, internal movement of containers, usage of technology and labor resources for efficient flow etc. A big thank you to our hosts, Mr. Nick Porter and Ms. Katrina Jones.
We concluded the tour with a meal with the students at Chaps Pit Beef in Baltimore, MD.
Graham School of Business hosted a Supply Chain Mixer last night March 30, 2023 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm in Yorkview Hall. This was a great event and good turnout. Enjoy the photos from the Supply Chain Mixer.

Dr. Nick Delener, Dean of the Graham School of Business (GSB) would like to invite you to a Spartan Surfaces company visit and an alumni social event on January 31st, 2023.
The visit to Spartan Surfaces will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Spartan Surfaces is an $85 million dollar company in the Towson, Maryland area owned by YCP alumni Kevin Jablon and Patricia Jablon.
The purpose of the visit is to provide students with employment and internship opportunities as well as firsthand business experience in how the company works.
The alumni social event will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
York College of Pennsylvania (YCP) will be hosting an alumni social at the Sheraton Baltimore North in Towson, Maryland.
The purpose of this visit is to network with alumni.
Transportation will be provided for the students by YCP in the form of buses.
Given the drive time, I am anticipating that we will be leaving campus at 12:30 p.m.
We will be transporting the students from Spartan Surfaces to the alumni social and then back to campus once the social is over.

Four hospitality management students have been completing internships in Dubai during the winter session - working in some of Dubai's finest restaurants.
Four Hospitality and Tourism students spent the Winter Session in Dubai, UAE completing restaurant work experiences at SUSHISAMBA and L'Amo Bistro del Mare. Sushisamba serves Japanese and Latin American sushi in a contemporary atmosphere on the 51st floor of the Palm Tower overlooking the Palm Jumeirah. L'Amo is a Southern Italian seafood restaurant located on the Dubai Marina. January is "in-season" in Dubai, when the temperatures are moderate (60° - 70° F) attracting tourists from around the world. This was the first year that YCP students have had the opportunity to intern in Dubai and plans are being set for future student opportunities.
Winter 2022 commencement was on December 14th in the M&T Field House. Five of our outstanding Hospitality Management students graduated this semester. Congratulations to Amaris, Marina, Rehab, Kerstin, and Taylor. Two students were recognized by the department for their contributions to the Hospitality Management program - Congratulations Amaris Sotomayor and Kerstin Glenn and thank you for your enthusiasm and leadership. Best wishes to all of our graduates - we look forward to hearing from you as your careers progress.
Students from the Department of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management presented their Yorktowne Hotel recommendations to the York County Industrial Development Authority board. They did a great job!
Hospitality Management students celebrated the end of the semester with a "Northerner's Take on Southern Comfort" dinner at the Center for Community Engagement.

Dr. Mohammed Raja, Dean Delener, and Dr. Arsalan Paleshi recognized Todd Reynolds winner of the ASCM 2022-2023 Scholarship on Friday, November 18, 2022. The criteria to earn this scholarship is to have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and a one-page essay on why they should be awarded this scholarship. This was judged by the Supply Chain faculty. Todd Reynolds will receive a check for $1,414.14 and a certificate.
