The association has significantly impacted Paul's artistic journey, as he notes he has been strongly influenced by meeting and talking to other artists.
Paul's story exemplifies how YAA fosters growth, connection, and knowledge within the local art community. His 5-year engagement with YAA demonstrates the lasting impact of the association on its members.
We invite all members to share their YAA experiences by visiting bit.ly/YAASurvey to complete our survey.
Do you believe drawing well is only for the few who are naturally gifted?
THINK AGAIN! It is a skill that can be developed and mastered with practice and patience! You can learn by training your eyes to see like an artist and then your hands to execute what you see. In this course, students will work at their own pace using the classical methods demonstrated in class. Learn about proportions, value, perspective by using tools such as grids and sight-size to help you improve your drawing skills. This is a limited space class so reserve your spot today!

York Art Association - MASTERING REALISM FOR BEGINNERS (ages 12 & up) with Jessie Groft Check out this upcoming event by clicking on this post!
Time to take your Anime drawing skills to the next level! You’ve learned to draw faces, convey emotions, illustrate bodies, clothing, fantasy creatures, chibi and robots.
In previous classes we’ve touched upon action, story development and directing your own manga. In this class we will take all those skills and literally create a production ready, 3-4 page, full color story, based on your own characters. In addition, we will print a comic of all the student’s short stories into one larger manga graphic novel.
The outcome of this class will be a compilation of your comics/short stories printed for you to keep! (Physical copies will be available to each student at a later date after the workshop is completed.) This class will guide and teach you the step-by-step process in creating an actual full color comic.
Serious and inspired Anime artists wanted!

The Acrylic Pouring technique aka Fluid Art allows artists to apply color in puddles, pools, and marble-like patterns. Pouring results in a smooth, glossy paint film that is perfectly even and blemish free. There are no paintbrushes necessary for this technique. It is particularly popular with beginners as it allows artists to create quick paintings with dramatic, contemporary results.
SUPPLY LIST: *Supply fee of $15.00 due to the instructor at start of workshop.
Registration deadline is 9/16 to allow for an adequate supply of materials.

Using bookbinding structures as substrates for sketchbooks, canvases, & sculptural forms, this class will move through a variety of bookbinding techniques and processes to explore the ones suited to your artistic interests. With a quick introduction of bookbinding practices through both a pamphlet book and a single sheet book structure, students will learn about the tools, adhesives, processes, paper grain, presses, and stitching threads. A progression of binding difficulties will follow through this six week course of structures and finding ways to use each book style creatively. We will move from Pamphlets, Accordions, Japanese Binding, to Coptic and its variations, & Buttonhole stitching if time allows. Coptic binding is a stitch that allows for a flexible spine in which the book opens flat and can be used to paint or sketch right across both pages…a positive aspect lacking in many commercial sketchbooks and Accordion bindings allow for a rich visual space for imagery.
