Higginson Architects Inc. was honored to attend the successful soft opening of Hangar 24 Brewery’s new restaurant at the Canyon Crest Town Center in Riverside, California. This milestone event marked the culmination of a collaborative effort to bring a vibrant and inviting dining experience to the community. As the architectural firm responsible for the tenant improvement, we are immensely proud to have played a part in transforming this space into a welcoming venue that reflects Hangar 24 Brewery’s unique brand and vision.

Seeing the finished space come to life and witnessing the excitement of patrons during the soft opening was incredibly rewarding for us. We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to this project and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the Riverside community.

For Palm Springs Modernism Week HAI met up with members of AIA to tour the iconic Frey house II, the personal residence of the legendary architect Albert Frey!

This month we celebrate our 9 year anniversary as HAI. Hard to believe it has been close to a decade since we established the firm. Lots of ups and downs, but I am grateful to all our clients who have stood by us over the years.

The HAI Flamingo’s 🦩 had a blast at the Rev High School Bowling event to benefit the Wildcats baseball team!

HAI attended the annual AlA Inland California Holiday Party AlAIC Chapter. We had a great time catching up with fellow AIA members and our own Brian Higginson was recognized as a newly licensed architect! David Higginson was also recognized and elected to the Board of Directors!
The event was held at Loft 84 in Riverside California, the former Aurea Vista Hotel. The Aurea Vista Hotel was designed by G. Stanley Wilson, one of the primary architects of the Mission Inn. It is one of the most authentic historically Spanish inspired structures in downtown Riverside, with architectural cues drawn from the architecture of medieval Cordoba and Granada, Spain. The building opened on March 28, 1928 as a hotel and separate banquet room on the upper floor and a furniture store on the ground floor.

Higginson Architects is pleased to announce the licensure of California’s newest architect, Brian Higginson, AIA. Brian’s career in his professional journey began in 2002 when he joined the firm of HCA in Redlands. He stayed with them until branching out to work with Miller Architects. The firm provided Brian with an opportunity to grow further in his project management abilities until re-joining Higginson Architects in February 2023. With the opportunity to transition into firm ownership, Brian pushed forward and completed all the required national and state testing for licensure within 10 months. Anyone who is familiar with the licensing process for architects, knows this is not an easy task to accomplish.

We look forward to Brian’s continued professional growth and help to make Higginson Architects the best firm in the Inland Empire. Not only the best firm, but the best “father-son” architect team in the Inland Emire

Archtoberfest 2023! A festive and productive annual gathering at Escape Brewery in Redlands California!

Archtoberfest! The American Institute of Architects Inland California Chapter (AIAIC) is a local organization that represents architects and allied professionals in the Inland Empire. David Higginson, AIA has been a member for more that two decades.

Their mission statement is:
AIA Inland California Chapter serves the public, the profession, and its members in San Bernardino County and western Riverside County with programs and services to advance the art of architecture and enhance the quality of our environment.

On October 11, 2023, the chapter celebrated Archtoberfest at Escape Brewery www.escapecraftbrewery.com in Redlands. This event, aptly named to coincide with the festive time of its namesake Octoberfest, was started over a decade ago by David Higginson, AIA. It has become a yearly tradition and a time for the chapter to elect officers for the coming year and to generally have a great time to network and interact with fellow professionals and allied members. It has now become a national event adopted by numerous chapters across the country.
David has served in numerous positions within the chapter for years. Having been President in 2016, he has been active with the board for more than a decade. With his involvement with the California Architects Board as a Subject Matter Expert, and assisting with the Enforcement Division, he took a break from being active in the Chapter. He was approached by Chapter leadership to consider bringing his extensive knowledge and background once again to accepting a director position, which he happily agreed to do.
David looks forward to re-engaging once again on the AIAIC Board to help promote and advance the profession of Architecture in the Inland Empire.

Today is World Architecture Day!

We celebrate the art and science of designing and constructing spaces that shape our world, and we can't talk about architecture without honoring one of its true visionaries, Frank Lloyd Wright.

Frank Lloyd Wright was an architectural genius known for his innovative designs, seamlessly blending nature and architecture. His creations, like Taliesin, Taliesin West, Hollyhock House, Robie House, Herbert and Katherine Jacobs House, Unity Temple, Fallingwater and the Guggenheim Museum, stand as timeless testaments to his unparalleled talent.

Moving an office is always a challenge! It is even more challenging when the firm is super busy! I promised myself I would not build the LEGO Coliseum until Brian passed his final test to become a licensed architect. Wasn’t sure when that would happen so the box was relegated to the storage cabinet. Since he passed his final test, it was time to dust it off! We will open the box when his license is officially issued! Stay tuned! We are going to post progress pics of the build.
