AWC Theatre collaborated with the Yuma Community Theater to present a hilarious production of the musical "Ride the Cyclone"!
βNot only do AWC students get a chance to work with a YCT director and be exposed to Yuma's community theatre opportunities; YCT folks get a chance to work in our space and create connections with actors for their future productions,β said Ann Wilkinson, AWC Professor of Theatre.

Students transferring to a university after graduation were honored at La Cosecha, a celebration that recognizes individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary persistence in order to receive their education.
In addition to pursuing a transfer degree, students honored at this event must have also met at least one of the following criteria to apply for the recognition:
β’ First Generation
β’ Relied/depended on financial aid to complete a degree
β’ Students with a disability
β’ Experienced unusual/extenuating circumstances during degree completion
In addition to certificates and commemorative stoles, many students also received transfer scholarships to continue their academic persuits.
Special thank you to our donors including our new co-sponsor, Jimmy Esparza, CEO of Renewable Power USA, who became the latest contributor allowing for the continuation of the annual tradition.

The Yuma Campus 3C offices will resume regular operations tomorrow, Wednesday, 5/29.
Starbucks will open at 10:00AM tomorrow before resuming their regular summer hours on Thursday, 5/30 (7AM-2PM).
The Eatery will remain closed as was previously planned for the summer.

Due to flooding in the College Community Center (3C) on the Yuma Campus, and the required restoration work, there will not be air conditioning in the building on Tuesday, 5/28, and the building will be CLOSED.
If you are in need of any services normally available in the 3C, please see the contact information provided below. Some services will be available remotely, while others may be accessed in person at an alternate location on campus. Helpful information can also be found on each service web page.

Arizona Western Baseball's all-time winningest coach, John Stratton, was inducted into the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame at the 2024 JUCO World Series pre-tournament banquet on Friday evening.
Stratton won 817 games in 27 seasons as head coach of the Matadors baseball program, leading the program to an appearance at the NJCAA DI Baseball World Series in 1996, and was the first head coach in program history to record a 40-win season.
While at the helm of the Arizona Western Baseball program, Stratton led the Matadors to twelve 30-win seasons, and won three ACCAC titles and three Region I championships.
Stratton arrived at Arizona Western in 1985 and coached the Matadors until 2011.
During that time he was named the Western District Region I Coach of the Year and earned the Louisville Slugger Award for Excellence in Coaching.
ο»ΏWhile at Arizona Western College, Stratton coached three players who went on to play in Major League Baseball, including World Series Champion Bengie Molina and Imperial Valley native Sergio Romo.

πΆThis past Monday, we immersed ourselves in the Jubilee Concert, indulging in great melodies and unforgettable performances.
Arizona Western College President Dr. Daniel Corr was recently invited to join state leaders at the White House to discuss efforts to expand investments in students and workers that lead to good jobs in high-demand sectors including clean energy, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, and more.
Dr. Corr was asked to participate in a breakout discussion during the event amongst White House staff, federal agency staff, and state leaders focused on state-level initiatives and opportunities for aligned efforts regarding preparing for federal investments and expanding career pathways and sector strategies.
