Bones, Culotta, and some random Di*******ry

It’s always a good time to hear from Jordy Culotta, well known and favored radio host. Jordy visited with Zachary Rotarians this week (8/31/23) to give a little insight into this years LSU Tiger Football. He said Coach Kelly’s emphasis in year two continues to be graduating champions and development of the person. Leadership qualities start at the top and Jordy says he feels very good about LSU’s leadership and the players buying in to the culture Coach Kelly is creating. Predictions are that the Tigers have a shot at a championship this year. Watch as they line up against Florida State in a Sunday night matchup 9/3/23 at 630pm. Geaux Tigers !!

Well, what do you know, former NOSE PICKer John Dean Adams has done been inducted into the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame his own self. John Dean is the guy who wrote a book about NOSE PICKS called “Still Carrying On”. Actually, it was only a chapter but we was the bestest thing in the book, by far. Congratulations, John Dean Adams. He will undoubtedly be wearing his Crimson underwear to the ceremony (Vol fans swear he is an Alabama fan).

Mr John Cappelletti, namesake of the Cappelletti Trophy awarded annually to the nation’s top white running back by NOSE PICKS and the Mid-Life Sports Association.

Happy 71st birthday to former Penn State running back and 1973 Heisman Trophy winner John Cappelletti. Cappelletti is pictured in action during a 16-9 victory over LSU in the 1974 Orange Bowl. For the third time, Penn State won the Orange Bowl with an undefeated record. And all three times, the Nittany Lions were passed over for the national championship. Notre Dame was instead given the national title by the AP Poll. Cappelletti was the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and the only Penn State player to win the award. Joe Paterno would later say Cappelletti was the greatest player he ever coached.

But perhaps Cappelletti's most memorable moment came off the field. During the 1973 Heisman Trophy presentation, he gave one of the most emotional speeches. He went into detail about his close relationship with his brother Joey who was suffering from leukemia. The story was later chronicled in a book and made-for-TV movie. He went on to play 10 seasons in the NFL with the Rams and Chargers. Cappelletti played in the famous 1982 playoff game between the Chargers and Dolphins.

Brad Roberts of the Air Force Academy repeats as Cappelletti Trophy winner, awarded annually by e-NOSE PICK Report to college football’s best white running back. He joins Patrick Laird (Cal), Christian McCaffery (Stanford) and Jacob Hester (LSU) as repeat winners.

Congratulations, Wall V. (Mortuary) McKneely on capturing the Marty Massey Trophy for 2022. McKneely finished one game ahead of David Thornton Dahveed Thornton to claim the King Nostril for the second time, having won the Coveted Crown in 1987.

The NOSE PICKS championship trophy is named for the late, great Martin W. Massey, a six-time King Nostril proclaimed by all as the Greatest of All Times (G.O.A.T).
