As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, let’s make safety our top priority. Whether you’re grilling with family, enjoying fireworks, or soaking up the sun. By following these all-around safety tips, we can all enjoy a fun and festive 4th of July while staying safe and healthy. Let's celebrate responsibly and make lasting memories with our loved ones!

HYDRATE!! HYDRATE!! HYDRATE!! Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated, especially if you're spending time outdoors.

Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and use sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

Keep an eye on the grill: Never leave the grill unattended and keep children and pets away from the cooking area.

Keep your grill clean and away from combustible materials

NEVER allow children to play with or ignite fireworks

Never point or throw fireworks at another person.

NEVER leave children or pets in parked vehicles, NOT even for a short period of time. Temperatures inside a car can skyrocket quickly, posing a serious threat.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke, including heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, and headaches. If you or someone else experiences these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.

Never swim alone. Always buddy up with a friend or family members and keep an eye on each other while in the water.

Stay informed about heat advisories and warnings issued by local authorities and follow their recommendations to stay safe.

Let’s all work together to beat the heat and have a fun 4th

🎉 Happy Juneteenth! 🎉

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates the day when enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of the Civil War and the abolition of slavery. This announcement came two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, which had declared the freedom of enslaved people in Confederate states, but Texas had remained largely unaffected by it due to minimal Union presence.

As firefighters, we are dedicated to serving and protecting every member of our community, regardless of race, ethnicity, or background. Let's take this day to honor the resilience, strength, and contributions of African Americans throughout history.

As we remember our past, let us also protect our future.

7. Never swim alone. Always buddy up with a friend or family members and keep an eye on each other while in the water.
